After the way both the Adelaide teams played this weekend, I'm sure most of the players would be happy to be mistaken for someone else. The Crows needed a bit of a wake up call. Best to have it now, and not in the finals.

I cant believe what I'm hearing! Have you people lost all self respect?! Thise mishaps are causing you so much suffering and you call them funny?! How is a buch of bullies getting you to punch yourself amusing in the least?! Is this what the NTs have rdeuced my people to?! Nothing I've read on this topic was funny at all! It sound like the kind of thing (shudder) NTs would laugh at us for! Are we going to laugh right along with those jerks?! Listen to youself, or another Aspie desperately try to correct what he said so a legion of NTs will stop laughing, then see if you can call these funny!

:D I called a kid I worked with in drama club Jimmy for two weeks straight, until someone finally told me his name was Jamie. He never once corrected me.

I can't believe what you're saying. If we chose to throw ourselves a pity party we'd be lowering ourselves. In the bullying stories that were shared (what, all of one?) sitting down and weeping, or shouting and throwing things would only have resulted in further bullying and laughter. By being able to shake it off (whether or not he intended to do it) jellynail rose above the situation, and bullies don't tend to laugh about that.
Besides, with the exception of jellynail's story, these have all been mistakes we have made by ourselves. We said something stupid, or just worded something wrong, and we're able to laugh at ourselves because of it. We're not "suffering" because of them. So what if we word something wrong? Are we trying to impress the whole world? NTs did not make anyone in this topic post, and in most cases they actually had very little to do with the story at all. You're reading into it too much.
And I've read all of these, and I can honestly say I find a few of these stories amusing. That's the way we are. Accept it or don't, but don't try and blame it all on the NTs.

Sorry. I was just a little angry when I wrote this. You know how it is, being an Aspie. It's just that where I came from, people used to really laugh at me when I said something stupid, and when I rose above it, they just laughed at me more. After I moved I didn't have much trouble cuz I'd been training myself for 6 years not to do stupid things, but there was another Aspie who was still laughed at all the time, and I know how much that must have hurt him, having been in the same situation myself, and observing his similar reaction. I was just so shocked that these difficulties were seen as things to laugh about. But then I'm only almost 15, and I guess a lot of Aspies here are older and wiser than me, even on the adolescent forum. Again I apologize. It's only because I respect you that I got so angry. I'm feeling the Aspie version of shame right now, and we all know how bad that is. I never suggested we cry and throw things, I just thought calling them funny was a bad idea.

P.S. Sorry if I overdid the apology.

Don't worry about it. We're all entitled to our (rather frequent) bad days. Besides, I probably went a little overboard in responding to your previous post.

:) I'm 15, actually, so we're about the same age. (But no, I don't think there are many of us.)

Yeah. I'm feeling it right now, actually, because you feel so bad about it. I apologize if I was harsh earlier. (Truce?)

There's several I've seen around here - not naming any names, of course - who don't seem to want to agree with anyone, at any rate.

Ahem. Have noticed a few Aspies of this sort myself.

Count me in as another Aspie fifteen-year-old, except I'll be sixteen in two weeks. :D

Well, I guess I did do one thing that was pretty funny. When I was in elementary shool, I didn't know about AS yet, but I knew I was different somehow from the other children. I had no evidence to support this ( in those days, I thought everyone took special classes), it was just a feeling. Then it hit me, I must be an alein. I started trying to figure out what planet I came from and whatnot. I would later find out that I was, in fact, from Earth. I noticed that Aspies often feel like their on the wrong planet (from the titles of books, and this website), but I wonder how many of them have taken this literally.

I've had a few 'social mishaps', but I didn't think any of them were in the least bit humorous.

Hm... would this be considered a bump? Oh well, this isn't really a social mishap, but it was pretty funny and stupid.

When I was six (that's ten years ago, now!), I was asked by the teacher to deliver a note to the class called C7 (they're all named like that, there A1, B4, C1...), I had no idea where it was so I started to venture around the school in an epic LOTR-esque quest to find the room known by the school as 'C7'. I started to ask anybody who I happened to come across, but nobody knew where it was. After spending about half and hour searching the entire school for it, I gave up and went back to my teacher. To my utter embarrassment she said it was just next door!

hmmn this one may or may not be funny...

I remember the principal asking why I had no laces in my shoes, and I told him they fell out, which was obviously part-true, (I'd actually stopped tieing them a few days earlier) I assured him I wasn't lieing, and got sent home for it..

There was this girl who wrote this really touching story in school. After reading it I was so impressed I offered her my editing skills. She snorted derisively and shot me down.

I think the *worst* thing I can remember happening at school was when someone made me laugh once, and I actually fell over backwards because of my extremely poor balance, and ended up headbutting a girl behind me and giving her a nosebleed. :/
