It seems like you go to quite a difficult school.

Sometimes, "nit-picking" teachers might "nit-pick" because they think you have potential. Other times, they just nit-pick.

What was the presentation on in 9th grade? I'm interested, because this would give me an idea of the curriculum in Australian high schools.

Do you have "community colleges" in Australia--or just universities? A community college in the US is really university-calibre--the difference is that they are 2-year schools which lead to Associates Degrees, and almost automatic admission to 4-years schools, which lead to Bachelor Degrees.

I would imagine it's not difficult to get into an Australian university. Students get some kind of subsidy from the government just for attending university.

A poster here stated, however, that certain subjects are off-limits if you don't get the proper grades. He wanted to go for something like "cognitive neuroscience," but couldn't because his grades were low. Instead, we went for someting like "food management" (I forgot exactly).

I'm definitely not smart. I didn't even get a job at target despite my grades.

I once again happen to disagree, (...this is becoming a theme or conspicuously recurrent trend with me). If I remember correctly from past threads you enjoy writing, albeit fanfiction, it is a gift worth having. That is, to be able to articulate your thoughts in the artistic fashion of ashen alphabetical symbols; symbiotically taking on new meaning in the structured walls of words and sentences. Unfortunately for me, the world has become so illiterate and I so interminable, that unlike the words of wise men like dickens, mine do so fall on deaf ears. Apparently the world no longer likes archaic references to past civilizations, nor cute gestures genially given. They like stories to be concise, neat, and no longer than 200 words (how boring, but once again I digress). The point happens to be that if you can write then write. Not something that other people have the right to. Write your own stories and far away places. If you write no more than 400 pages a day In no more than 252 days you will have written a novel the size of Ender's game. I remember in a previous thread you expressed your desire to be famous by the time of your death. Now ask yourself this, how will you achieve said goals by simply working at target. I earlier expressed my belief that all people are geniuses. As Robin sharma says it is not about your IQ but your I can.

My situation is, interestingly, flipped. I did poorly all throughout elementary, middle, and high school; there were a few years then where I made high grades, but that was while I was on ADHD medication, which I soon developed a resistance to.

College, however, is a lot better for me. Barring the ridiculous amount of money you need to dig out of your pockets to pay tuition, you're essentially given the freedom to take whatever courses you want - achieving straight A's is a lot easier when you are interested in the subject.

The one thing you have to keep in mind is that you're a kid. The first 30 - sometimes more - years of your life is mostly a formative experience, where you do a lot of experimenting to figure out what clicks and what you are "smart" in. Sometimes it just falls into your lap; most of the time, you have to work for it. Whether or not this involves other people is secondary - if you can't take more specialized classes, wander around a library and check out anything that might seem even somewhat interesting to you.

Isn't this the case for most aspies? (Not the tattoo and the smart ass thing... ) I've also been told looodes of times I'm smart and same for the fact I lack common sense because I don't think how others think so they just get that I don't think at all. . And then I act even dumber when I'm at school... Because it's fun
