Again, town of eccentric people, rich town. Quite where I live, where almost nobody with AS gets diagnosed.
I was the first in my elementary district (which covers the whole town).

I'm not exactly sure about how many other aspies go to my high school. I think there's about 5 or so (out of around 2000 kids), and I'm not sure about how many girl aspies there are. I also think it sort of stinks that I'm the only aspie in my school's band program, which has 140 kids.

5 in 2000?

Means that there's likely several times that not yet diagnosed.
Could mean that there are others in your band.
Tried listening for voice?
One of the biggest giveaways a lot of the time I think.

I know one boy who's a classic science/math geek but may or may not have Asperger's, and another boy who definitely seems aspie-ish. But I don't know anyone with an official diagnosis.

Then the third type is by far the most common in my experience. Significantly higher functioning, I think that this is primarily because we're self-aware. Most of the kids in this type act very goth, and even those (such as myself) who don't are very cynical and observant of the world at large. We can break down over very petty things, and are highly disorganized, but when we're functioning we seem basically like very eccentric neurotypicals. We also while having AS can't lie (well, some can, but not convincingly), but we can be very tricky, and I've noticed kids in my study hall tend to give the SPED teachers the most difficulty by giving selective responses. I do somewhat wonder if the difference between us and the second type that I mentioned is that we've had treatment, or whether we're simply naturally more self-aware.

Spot-on, in my opinion. How observant of you. That's me exactly, and I haven't had treatment...it's just self-awareness I guess.

I suppose the question is, as I said this seems to be the largest group.
I wonder how many of us, if any who have had intervention might fall under the lower-functioning group if we hadn't.

I'm not exactly sure. I asked a teacher how many kids that were in the school, and she said a 'few' others. Of course, a few could be 5, or it could mean 10 to her. I'll probably have to ask someone else, since it's not a very accurate number (she was very strict on confidentiality rules, but maybe she didn't know how many there were either). For voice, I can't really hang around the choir program a lot because it's a totally different class, and they're usually in another team (or set of classes), which means that I don't have a lot of choir kids in my class. I'll probably find one though, in a matter of time of course.

When i was at scool (finished in june), there was at leest 1 definste aspie in my year (or grade, to any americans here), and a few others that i suspect (out of about 30-35 peeple). As for college, the person from my scool who i no for sure has AS comes to my college now, and i think at leest 2 of the peeple who i went on the romania holiday with in october mite have it as well.

There's only 2 people I'd suspect, out of 1800.

I have never known a single person in all my elementary and secondary school years that has AS, and so far in university I haven't known any. My secondary school had about 1500 students. Eventhough I live in a fairly well-off area, nobody anywhere has heard of it. I've been diagnosed for 3 years and told many people, but the first to actually know what I was talking about was someone with ADHD that I met recently, and he was new to the region.

Here in Canada, AS awareness is extremely low, and that means that misunderstandings are all too common. Inflated accusations of workplace sexual harassment and other such things are just a part of life now, since nobody knows about why I am the way I am.

why do people always think that were trying to sexually harass them? I hugged a guy friend once and everyone got mad(he was in a bad mood and didn't want to be hugged) and they accussed me of molesting him.

Here here! I've had that happen so often I haven't given a hug out at random in like a year! I may not show it often, but I've got a lot of love to give, and it just has to shine through randomly sometimes! :(
