When someone called you a "ret*d", it does not necessarily mean she thinks you are "stupid"

Just because someone called you that, does not mean you are ret*d

"ret*d" used to be medical terminology

Now it is no longer medical terminology

If you want to give up, fine

But the reason for giving up, is not because of what someone told you

Only a clinical psychologist has a right to administer IQ tests. And it cost $$$$


Based on your description, nobody mentioned in your post measured your IQ

No, I've never really been called anything offensive to my disability. However, I have been called a "little girl" a couple of times by older women, it did make me a bit mad the first time though. But now I don't care.

I've been called doubly exceptional, which sounds like little more than a euphemistic way of saying 'half-retarded'.

Idiots shower me with so much praise, for the slightest thing, that you could only imagine that they think I am intellectually challenged

Yup. My dad let it slip in 7th grade and it still hurts to think about. To make matters worse, my brothers figured out that that word set me off and would harass me with it to get a reaction. not fun

My mother has said I act and look "ret*d".

It wouldn't mean "half ret*d".

It would mean something like "doubly ret*d", or...."doubly disabled", or "you're BOTH a moron, AND batshit".

(not saying that you are that. Just that that what its sounds like certain folks are saying to you).

Doubly-exceptional refers to having both a learning disability and being gifted in terms of IQ, so no, it's really not as you're describing.

I have overheard it when out in public.

"What's up with that dude?"
"He looks ret*d".

"Look at the ret*d".

Stuff like that. But not often.

But when playing my video game and a hopelessly outmached npc foe attacks me, I will sometimes call it a "ret*d" after quickly killing it.

My parents use it all the time! Now my siblings are doing it too. Honestly, people use so much it's as if it doesn't have a meaning anymore. I still hate it though.
