I have crazy weird problems giving definite answers to questions, such as yes and no. I never would have known had nobody pointed this out to me. I don't know why, but I feel the need to explain the situation to a person and let them figure out what I mean. It's annoying to people around me and I don't know why I do it in the first place. I think it's because I know deep down how horrible my judgment and decision-making skills are. I also have a fear of being wrong. Does anybody have similar problems? Has anybody resolved problems like this and have advice? I don't know why I have problems giving definite answers, can you guys help?

I have similar problems some of the time. Either I explain things like that or I make a snap decision and say no. I think the most important thing is to make the decision based on you not on what you think other people want. Making decisions is hard, but quite a few little every day ones don't matter too much. You could try explaining the situation in your head just to yourself first, that sometimes makes it easier for me. I hope I made a bit of sense there.

My parents have the joke that I shouldn't "act so much like a lawyer" and add shades of ambiguity when answering yes/no questions. But a quick 'yes' or 'no' answer is missing the more fundamental question of the whys and wherefores of the answer. I prefer hearing more than 'yes' and 'no' from a yes/no question.
