My brother and i are aspies. He is HUGE(tall strong and muscular) for his age because all he does is eat and play games...
... as he gets older it gets harder and harder to keep him under control. I wish i had a taser! but in anycase i'm not all allowed to hurt him which, our floor in our house is tiled, leaves me very little options and both my mom and dad work. my main job is make sure nobody gets hurt and within a couple of years hes going to be stronger if i don't do something about it. Also i'm not allowed to restrain him. It just pisses him off even more. If he had a knife and was intent on hurting someone i'm not sure if i could take him down. Also he doesn't respect me or do anything i say to do. Also i have suppressed my rage to keep me out of trouble but that is both a blessing and a curse with out it i can not tap into that deep well of reserved strength (curse+blessing) when it is out in the open i would not satisfied with just giving someone a good beating thus the suppression. SO if anyone knows a way to calm him down without getting a needle and syringe and water laced with lots of sleep medicine( I haven't tried this yet but i'm pretty sure it would work) It would really help!

What is he doing that you need to calm him down?
Have you talked to your folks about what's going on?

:( Hi,

I'm sorry that I don't have much advice for you. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone. My kids are 7 and 11; the 11 yr. old has AS and the 7 yr. old is NT. They dearly love each other but really, really struggle to get along!

It does sound that your parents need to give you direction about how to handle this situation. Perhaps your brother has some undiagnosed disability. I believe that my 7 yr. old may have ADHD that is caused by his difficulty understanding his older AS brother.

Best of luck to you!

I was in that same position many years ago. My brother and I were 8 years apart. he was such a brat, now at age 38 he is truly a sociopath. But the best thing that helped was trying to be a friend to him. He didn't respect me either. Finally at age 12 he decided to go live with my Dad. The last time we spoke was at my moms funeral arrangements. we don't speak, I hope that doesn't happen to you. Try to stay calm and just kill him with kindness, he will eventually learn that all of your responses are positive so it won't do any good to try to make you mad. Hard on your part but works out better for you in the end.Good luck and stay calm if you can!

Exactly what is he doing? Is he being provoked by something?
Or does he just rage around all day for no reason?
How old is he?

My best advise would be to completely ignore him if he is being a brat and stay out of his way. Lock yourself in your bedroom, if you can.

That's what I did with my brother. When he found out that he wasn't getting any kind of response from me, he eventually chilled out and went to find something else to do.

Your brother doesn't demand too much attention, does he? Wouldn't he be content with his games?

Hes 10 and please don't laugh and no he is crazy all the time its just sometimes he gets pissed off at something stupid and just freaks out on you. oh and i'm completely hyper sensitive so that doesn't help. Also since he's that young the find him someone doesnt work because i dont know many 10 year old and to put it simply i'm not a favorite but still it not like anything real serious goes on its just when gets upset you have to do something.

Ah ok.
So it's not as bas as it sounded in your first message.

For me, I don't laugh. I know that even smaller children than your brother can be hurful and even dangerous when they kick or boxe or throw things away or onto you.

... Maybe you could try, both of you, martial arts like aïkido for instance?
I'm not mocking, I'm serious.

And for your little brother, you're right to prevent the futur when he will grow stronger and taller.

Does he have some written rules he cannot desobey?
And if he does, does he know the consequences?

It sounds like he's having meltdowns.
Do you have meltdowns?
Maybe you can talk to him and help him figure out what it is that sets him off and together you can work to deal with the triggers.
He may also find that getting under a heavy blanket when things start to build up on him will help calm him down. This isn't something you can do or make him do, but if he wants to calm himself down, it may help.
