What in particular, though? There's potentially a range of areas - the brain, childhood, adolescence, development, mental health, disorders.. You'd have to study the more basic aspects before going on to other stuff if you want to get some sort of qualification. Statistics is also a significant part of psychology.

Your local PBS television station will have college telecourses in psychology--you can watch it for free, and you'll get as good an intro to psych as any college freshman.

I checked the North Hollywood station listings (KLCS) since your user info says that's where you live, and it looks like "Discovering Psychology" airs on Saturday mornings between 6:00 and 7:00am (so you'll have to get up early or set your DVR to record it for you.)

Every one of them seems to have already passed. :( They're all in 2003-2004.
