I am trying to get rid of my video game addiction. but when I try to end it, I feel like I need to play some more in order to live. If I try to get mom to hide it, it only takes a few hours until I get the urge to murder my own family for them. how can I stop this.

I don't think there's much you can do about gaming addiction. If I'm not playing a game on my computer I'll be playing soduku or some other puzzle or wasting time watching Music TV. You may as well give into it because if you're not wasting time obsessively doing one thing you'll only end up wasting time obsessively doing something else... Good luck trying to break obsessions hehe!

I long ago gave up trying to force myself to do, to not do or to change anything. Instead, I now look for ways to re-direct my thoughts and/or energies toward variations or "new and improved" use of them, and even along similar lines. For example, maybe you could begin learning (if you do not already know) how to do some game design, writing, programming and/or improvement ... and in my own case, I would try to help motivate myself to begin such a shift (as I actually did several years ago) by looking at obsessive gaming as mindless activity actually unworthy of very much of my time when there are possibilities that can be far more productive and even beneficial to others.

yeah... programming is ok actually and probably one of the few useful ways to make money out of an obsession with computers and gaming... I'm learning programming at the moment but it's still hard to distract myself from playing games long enough to get into the zone of programming stuff... although it's actually quite gamish once I get into it! Programming works in exactly the same way that I think hehe :colors:
