You feel this way because you are a teenager and at a point in your life where you are trying to assert your independence and become your own person and you probably, at least subconsciously, worry your parents will ruin this image you are trying to create to your friends, that you are old enough to take care of yourself.
It's ironic because once one actually is an adult, one usually has no qualms about being seen with or spending time with their parents
One of the tell tale signs of actually maturity is not having an issue hanging out with ones parents....of course unless one's parents are those unsufferable types.
