I today learned about something that adults do when having something such as a game night or hang out at parties, apparently they don’t allow kids to play or talk amongst adults because as my mom tried to explain " the adults are on another playing field", now I had never heard of this before, so naturally I’m a bit confused, what is it that an adult has that i do not have that makes them better than me or more accepted in a converse or game? For any adults reading this please, fill free to elaborate, I must say I’m really thrown off by this. I’m a 16 yr old boy, just so everyone knows.

While I’m talking about adults I would also like to say a word or two about what fascinates me about them, maybe this is just something an AS child has, but I’m in most cases I and others are just as smart as them, just as capable as them, and yet they doubt us in many ways, I must say I pity them very much so, as to be so blinded by their statute to be known as adults, that they look at a minor(14 through maybe 20 or so) as incapable of functioning in a proper manner.

I have found however that in most cases (not all), most teenagers at my age whom do not have any form of Autism, and can be on this forum found to be depicted as "NT's" or Neuro-typicales are in many ways lacking the maturity that an adult would be expecting. So I see a reason to not include minors to the activities they participate in, but I must say being a minor myself I am very displeased with most adult’s recognition of my maturity.

It could be an assortment of many factors. Here is but a small list.

Alcohol/Drug Use
Their humor
They Dont want to embarrass themselves in front of thier kids
There could be strippers or something else coming over. IE: Adult Entertainment, the collective FAP-FEST

those are just some of the possibilities as to why.

They may be intimidated by you. :)

I'm being serious here, btw. Many adults still think that they SHOULD be smarter than kids, regardless of whether or not they actually are. Not all adults are like that--I'm not. I hate people who have patronizing attitudes just because of their age. That does not automatically make a person "smarter" or "more mature." (I know many so-called "adults" who usually act like they're about 12, and that's on a good day. ) Which leads to....

This could be part of it too. Maybe you could talk with your mom, or another adult who might be willing to listen, about how you feel. Showing your maturity through the way you speak and conduct yourself will probably be quite effective.

Hope that helps.

OMG! I thought I was the only one!

I hate it when the adults would not let me play games with them .. I did not understand why i could NOT play games with them, I was just as good as they were. The game was scatergories, and im very good at that game. But they told me to go play with the other kids, which I did not want to do. So I got upset and fell asleep on the sofa instead of making a scene. ergh.

No you are not the only one, my parents lucky me always include me in the games so Im not really subjected to this, but I just found it quite odd. No matter I know how capable I am.
