I've been in Girl Scouts on and off for about my entire life. My mom was a Girl Scout and her mom was in it too I think. Anyway, when I suddenly realized I wasn't going to get into college solely on academic excellence, I thought, maybe this is a good time to get back into GS and get my stupid silver award.

Now the silver award is about the highest rank of anything a Cadette Girl Scout such as myself can achieve. For this award, I have to do a project about something very important to me. Obviously, autism advocacy was the absolute first thing I thought of. After all, I have AS, my brother is autistic, my bestest buddy is autistic, my old friend was an Aspie, I've got all the resources in the world (therapists, books, first hand accounts) that I could possibly need... hell I'm pretty much set. Except for the fact I have no friends that are willing to help.

In order to get said award, I got to get some badges relevant to my topic. One of this badges is the "Understanding of Yourself and Others" badge. One of the activities I have to do is "create a presentation that focuses self-esteem/ awareness about a particular issue affecting teens." I figured asking you all would be easiest to "interview" considering I have no teenage friends and most of you guys are teenagers/around that age so...

What are some issues that concern you the most? Violence, peer pressure, discrimination, ect, ect. I just need some ideas from some people.

Sorry about all that, but I really could use the help. I will also apologize in advance for the next time I come on here asking weird questions so I can get my award.

And since everyone always asks me if I will sell them cookies, the answer is no. Sorry.

I'm active in scouting myself, but in america it's a completely different organization. (Though girls can be ventures and explorers. WTH.)

I'm a bit old to be a teen now, but I was not terrible long ago, so I may still be a resource in that regard. (I don't know what regulations are about that; Eagle Scout rank has nothing to do with merit badges or teenagers specifically.)

One of the issues that concerns me the most is school bullying.

I am concerned about the teachings styles going on in the schools. Not only at the individual teacher level but the level of the school board and curriculum. Even extending towards government spending on public education and developing programs and researching learning styles to better educate the population.

I hope you earn the Silver Award, I was too lazy to work towards it and my Juliette troop leader wasn't the most encouraging. ( I have it via Ebay but I didn't earn it)

To me, safety is an issue. I like to know that if I'm in a public place like a bus station that I won't need to worry about someone running up and attacking me. Also, help for people with disorders like us. Special Education schools and programs that need to change the way they are interacting with the kids so the kids don't have further stress and aggravation.
