Because change isn't hard for them so they expect you to buck up. Sometimes they have no choice but to move so they have to make you move with them.

I remember when I got my new bed a few years ago I couldn't sleep for several nights. Just within the past 10 years, I've moved across the country 5 times, I know how it is to pack everything up and move into a new house. I don't think I would be able to sleep either. While I cannot really answer your initial question, I suggest that if you can't sleep, don't even try. You are probably too shocked by a change of surroundings to be tired. From my experience, whenever I'm not tired it's always best to just stay awake and pull an all-nighter. By the time the sun comes up, you will be too tired not to sleep. :)

I'm sorry that you're struggling :( Even though I've lived in the same settled place for about 4 years now, I've had to move a lot in my life. I moved to a different country when I was younger and absolutely everything changed so I know how difficult it is. I lived with different people, never saw my friends or school or father again, my mum went back to live in the UK, different school, different house, different guardians, different foods, climate, bed, language (I couldn't understand any of it)...it was hard. And after a few years there was the move back.

So I know that's it's definitely hard and it might take you a while to settle in, but remember that you will settle in and in time become more comfortable. Stay strong.

My bus times are changing next week, and I'm feeling all nervous for some reason, even though the company have improved the service. Also they're changing the actual buses, so they'll look all different inside, and my ''favourite seat'' will be different. It's getting me all het up.

When I was in elementary school, change was the cause of 80% of my meltdowns. It would make me very (I don't use that term lightly) anxious. Change is not nearly as hard as it used to be. Now, only sudden changes bothers me, and not to the extend that it did in the elementary grades. All my elementary report cards say "has a hard time with change" or "is unable to handle changes in routine".

Changes in my daily routine don't bother me normally, it's more changes in plans that didn't get my approval or that I wasn't warned about before it happened. For example, it does not upset me to go on vacation, even though it's different than my routine. If I normally went swimming (something I enjoy) at 10:00 AM every day, and then it was changed to math, it would bother me because I would be disappointed because I don't like math. If someone were to say "we are not doing math today, we are going swimming instead". I may get anxious because I would be worried that we would be doing something WORSE than math, not because of the change.

Big changes don't bother me much, small changes seem to bother me more.
