Like, some Aspies, you'd never have guessed... But some just stand out, yknow?

For me it's the incredible shyness, complete confusion given verbal instructions (and always asking someone to come with me if I'm on an errand, or whatever), bouncing up and down when I'm excited and my love of going barefoot...

I hate being barefoot, the bottom of my feet are really sensitive.

In one high school I went to , people were saying I was going to shoot up the school.(this was soon after columbine) This was mainly the result of the human tradition of the ignorant rumor mill.

Apparently I look mad all the time, or most of the time.

I'm not sure exactly what it was that got noticed as weird in high school. It was probably my shyness/(apparently) unhappy face, but I can't say for sure :?

I don't conform to social norms, I play not one but many nonmainstream instruments, I'm in the music room making music from the moment I arrive at school until the beginning of third period after lunch, I'm really positive and I'm just wierd.

I try my hardest to be me regardless of where I am. I'd rather be alone for being myself than having friends for being a lie.

Well sort of, I have a high tolerance to pain and that can get looks from people who have low tolerances to pain.

Apparently I stand out. Or at least that's what I'm told. Some kid on the bus thinks I'm going to bring an M-16 to school and shoot everyone. I can't help but to laugh at him because of the irony of the statement. If there's anybody to do that, it would be the guy who talks about how he plans on killing people all the time. Thank God he got sent back to juvy.

I suppose I get noticed because I do 'weird' things, like when I get excited or 'hyper' as people like to call it, I jump about a lot and seem less likely to pay attention to faces, and I say weird things to, that don't make sense...so most people (that aren't my friends) see me as a freak, I'm not too bothered though, nobody's perfect :)

I get asked "What's wrong with you?" frequently and my mother tells me people give me weird looks. Uh, I leg bounce, jump around, make 'odd' noises, flap my hands, ect and I don't look at people when I talk to them (but often stare when listening). Oh, also I'm quite awful at detecting humour and talk too much or too little. ^_^

Well, my name was "weird" all the way through primary/secondary school. It got so I was really surprised when anyone apart from the teachers actually knew my real name. Then there was the books, and the drawing everywhere, zoning out...i.e. reading in detention and not hearing the teachers shouting at me to stop reading until they came right up to me. :?
Just the strange things I said, or how I didn't want to be with people, or when people were being colloquial I never really got it.

It's ironic that the other kids noticed me as being strange (I definitely heard about it, a lot), but one of the factors working against my Aspergers diagnosis was that teachers hadn't picked up on it sooner and referred me themselves. I don't see why that was such a big deal. If you have a painfully shy kid who's pretty awkward in most things, but isn't failing in school or anything, why would you make such a big deal out of it? It's not like all Aspies have to be the people banging their heads against the corridor walls.

My face. It just looks... weird and flat.

What got me noticed was that I've always been a very very good writer. And extremely extremely bad at math.

I won more than one writing contest and then flunked more than one math class.

Also I was also really quiet and had very few friends. I always got a long with the foregin exchange students the best and loved to talk with the teachers from other countries more than I liked to be around other classmates.

I actually had people say that about me too. Though kind of in a "you better stay away from that girl way." And my freshman year a bully told a teacher that she'd heard that I planned to commit suicide. Of course it was total BS. And the teacher thought it was hilarious and had a nice laugh with the bully in front of the class. :wall: I still cringe when I see either of them around town because I still hate them both (the student and the teacher).

1. Shyness
2. Quietness
3. Soft Voice
4. My Logical Comments and Answers (none of my classmates, aside from Sage and Marcus, gives a logical answer... it's all bullsh--)
5. The fact that when the English/Religion/Reading teacher comes in she calls me (and only me) out for dozing off when half of the class is doing it as well. Honestly, I don't even need those classes, she just drones on and on about the same nonsense...
6. My Star Wars obsession
7. My Rock Music liking (I personally think today's hip hop is trash)
8. I hang out with virtually no one (except Sage and Marcus, two awesome people)
9. I get picked on by every single girl and ignored when I try to associate with the boys
10. No boyfriend (don't see how they acquire one)
11. No life outside of my house and school (don't see why I actually need one)
12. I stutter sometimes
13. I speak to fast
14. I use words that my classmates don't know (like ambidextrous, dexterity, and schadenfreude)
15. I also like math.

Oh look, this list is also why I get bullied.

I fidget a lot, and I stare at the ground all the time. That gets me noticed. I stutter when I'm nervous or worked up. Plus, I only ever want to talk about basically three subjects while other people want to talk about how great their social lives are.

I'm homeschooled, but I do a lot of school-like programs with others. Everyone always seems to notice my apparent lack of facial expression. They always ask why I'm so serious or cold-hearted. Some people say I look sad. :? It's very annoying.
