Hi everybody! I've been reading posts here for a little while but I didn't get around to actually saying anything. I'm looking for friends, hopefully around my same age (I turned 17 two weeks ago). I'm in college right now, but I was homeschooled for a while! That was pretty fun.

I draw a lot and I'd be happy to send you any of my pictures if you ask to see them! It's all professional, so it wouldn't be a picture of two stick-guys walking into a bar. :)

I'd really like to get to know some of you. Send me a private message if you want to. I'm generally pretty friendly but I don't like these kinds of posts; they lose a lot of personal touches when they're this public. Also, I do everything (draw, write, play music, listen to music, watch movies, watch tv, read books, clean, take care of animals, work, travel, use computers, fix computers, beat little kids up in a karate class, and I'm sure forgetting more).

Thanks and it's really nice finding a place like this!

-Sam

PS: Also, girls, I'm a pretty handsome guy in case you were wondering. Dark and curly hair, tall: Sometimes I just stare into a mirror and admire my own beauty. :)

--Also, I know I could've posted it in the "Hello, I'm new" forum, but I had no interest in doing that. Think about it! What was I really going to get out of it? I'd end up back here, anyway, so I thought this way I have an introduction. I've been drawing this since yesterday in case any of you are interested: Image

WOW! That's an amazing picture, even though it is in progress!

*is struck dumb by the evident talent*

Hi. You say you play music? Please elucidate :)

Thanks for the complement! I don't know what else to do with that picture but I'm sure I'll finish it (the main version is actually in color, so I'm going to mess with that some more and see where it goes, and then I might convert it to black and white again). I play keyboards and pianos and I'll play all kinds of songs! I like playing and listening to Pink Floyd songs because of some of the chords and I just like improvising. I actually pretty much just play my own songs, but I'll also play songs by Tchaikovsky. :)

I have more pictures if any of you want to see them?

Thanks again!

-Sam

Hey Sam. Just noticed this thread now.

I'm about the same age as you are. I'm 18 y/o and live in Western Canada. Where abouts do you live?

I'm actually just going back to School pretty quick here. I dropped out for a while, and now I'm going back to finish a couple more classes for my diploma. I haven't really decided what I want to do after that....

That is an amazing drawing there. You should post some more drawings in this thread. Or if you want to email me some, send me an email (click the little email link at the bottom of this post). I was never very artistic, although when I was small I liked to think I was! I'm more technically minded and analytical than I am creative.

Anyways, this thread is supposed to be about you, not me, so I'll pass the mic back to you :P Good meeting you Sam.

Hey Trapped, yeah you too, thanks! I'm from Arizona and it's pretty nice here right now. Good luck with school. I haven't actually been to school before, so I don't know completely what it's like. All I can do is hope that the school you're going to is at least better than any school out here! Arizona has most of the worst schools in the country. :)

I'm looking through my pictures but I haven't seen anything too interesting yet. I drew that a few days after I got a new program (corel painter) and I'm really happy with it! These other 3 pictures I drew with paint shop pro 9 and it really isn't as good as painter is, so I'll have to buy it before the trial ends. The thing is that I don't have a particularly good computer right now so there's no hurry for me to spend $200 on it. I'd also like to get an imac soon just because I can't stand windows.

After I have some extra time, I'd like to draw a bunch of new pictures that are bigger than these next pictures (the minimum size I'd like to use now is 1024x768) but that could take a little while because I'm extremely lazy! :) Anyway, it was great meeting both of you! Everybody here's pretty nice, which I appreciate. I really don't know many friends so I'd really like to get to know some of you! Thanks again!

-Sam

Hey Ocher.

It is actually a school specifically for adults completing high school later in life, so it should be better than my past experiences with school (hopefully...)

I've never used Corel Painter. I don't exactly have tons of money, and considering I'm about as far away from an artist as you can possibly get, I just stick with free programs like "The Gimp"... As for the iMac thing, my respect for you just shot through the roof :P I own a Powermac G4 (old) and a Mac Mini Core Duo w/ 1 GB RAM (almost brand new), and I love both of them. My Mom (who I live with) owns a 20" iMac Core Duo.

If you need to get a new screen, keyboard, mouse, etc etc...then I'd recommend going for the iMac. However, if you're short on cash and just want to get a Mac, I'd recommend looking into getting the Mac Mini (and using it with your existing perephrials (sic)), which is a surprisingly powerful machine giving the size of it. Or, if you're happy with your current monitor, you could splurge on the new Mac Pro. Let me know if you have any Mac Questions :) And I completely understand your desire to rid yourself of Windows :P

Attached below is about the best I could possibly do art wise....laugh all you want! :P (literally, I won't mind)

You seem pretty cool yourself. Look forward to talking to you again! And your pictures look awesome! Keep at it, you clearly have talent!
