I got glasses just a few days ago- one lense is for nearsightedness, and the other is for farsightedness. No joke.

Anyway, I have some problems with them, that I'm sure are common, but I don't know what to do about them.

- Are the nose clips (I don't know what they're called) supposed to pinch? Maybe I'm just pushing them too hard onto my face, but they hurt sometimes.

-They mist up constantly.

- They're narrower than I expected, and I find myself looking above or below the lenses constantly.

- The edges reflect light into my eyes sometimes.

Any tips or tricks?

I started wearing glasses in November '08, and it took me a long time to get used to them. Hope that doesn't discourage you. I'm just advising you to have patience.

The bridge of my nose was sore and irritated for the first few weeks. I think the skin needs time to toughen up a bit. And if your glasses are adjusted properly to fit your face, you shouldn't have to press them down hard on your nose.

One thing my optometrist told me that's been valuable to remember: "Point your nose at what you want to see." It was difficult for me to remember at first, but it's good advice.

Hope this helps a bit.

No, the bridge of your nose should not hurt....from what u describe, I think the glasses u have may be too small. Go back to ur optometrist n have them check if u need a larger frame size. IMHO. : )

The glasses shouldn't pinch, but you might be pushing and fiddling with them because they are new which could cause pressure on the bridge of the glasses.

It does sound like they may not fit properly if you are looking above/below the lenses. It could also be because you are not used to them your are trying to look around them because you are trying to see how you normally do. When you just put them on and look around at things in the room are you having this problem, or are you perhaps moving them after you have put them on? If they don't seem to be sitting properly you can go back to the shop and they should be able to make some adjustments to help how they sit.

You will find that the edges of the glasses take a bit of getting used to - after a while your brain will just start to screen them out and you won't notice them anymore.

In regard to misting up, it is normal is when you are running hot water or opening a dishwasher and things like that - it can also happen if you walk from a hot place to a cold place and similar. Some glasses cleaners are supposed to help reduce it, but I don't find they make any difference.

This is the same as me, actually.

Be a little careful when you push them up. The weight of the lenses might be the major cause of this.

Have a cleaning cloth handy. Or wear a soft shirt. ;)

This is common. I still do it.

I'm not used to that either. Just try your best to ignore it.

try to find old-fashioned large glasses and frames to avoid looking over or under the lens all the time. try to find frames with a large broad nosepiece/nose rests [or get flesh-colored nosebridge padding] to avoid those skin compression ulcers so common in glasses-wearers.
