School has begun again and the first maths lesson already was very boring.
I am immediately realised again, Maths isn't my thing.
I just don't seem to care for them random numbers and lines and things we are asked to calculate.
I will try doing it anyway tough. I don't know have much choice.
So I guess I will try my best and not give up on learning it.
So with that, does anyone else have diffeculties with Maths?
And does anyone has any tricks or advice that makes it easier to do maths or/and understand/learn maths?

YouTube saved my arse in math. Just look up what it is you need to learn to do. There are TONS of math videos on there.

Actually, I'm pretty good at math, but some things take me a minute to get. Plus, I HATE doing the same problem over and over with slightly different numbers. Luckily, homeschooling doesn't really do that, so yippie.

Trust me, once you get it down, math can be a breeze. After ahile, it's just plugging in numbers into formulas and getting answers. Like cooking: put the ingredients in, take the cake out. Once you can do that, math's no problem.

Maths is all about breaking the equation into small, simple steps - once you have achieved this, you will find Mathematics is much simpler. Obviously, some people have better techniques and attitudes towards the subject, and they will achieve higher, but for the most part, Mathematics is a highly conventional skill that is useful in just about every career.

I am a Freshman at the moment (in New Zealand - our school year comprises of the months between February and December), but I am working on more advanced Mathematics due to the above suggestion that my Mathematics teacher explained to me last year.

Try the Khan Academy. Short videos and exercises for maths, completely free and very good.

I have never heard of the Khan Academy, but it does look informative, DC.

Salman Khan is great, Bill Gates phoned him up and gave him a wedge of money to create the website because he was using Salman's videos to brush up on things.

I've been recommending them to people for a few years and haven't had bad feedback yet, it is worth signing up to the site as you get a bunch of extra tracking tools to see how you are doing.

The maths stuff from TheTeachingCompany is also very good if you prefer longer content, it's not free though.

I checked out the link to kahn academy and watched some videos. Seems a really neat site. ^^
I will definitely use it when I am stuck with maths.
I also got Ritalin (because of ADHD & Autism) for my concentration.
This gives me hope to get trough maths this year. ^^

suffered from very severe math anxiety. blood, sweat, and tears. blood especially.

I'm actually really good at math, I'm taking AP Caculus BC right now and its killing me. Its not that its hard; its just that the problems are extremely long, boring, and repetitive, and since I'm taking the course independently I loose focus and now I'm at least a month behind.

I suck at memorizing numbers, theorems, and complex formulas, so using a just use method's that don't involve forumula's or just rediscover the formula, right it out, and use it for the rest of the problems. I hate solving specific problems, I more like figuring out to solve mathematical problems and other mathematical discovery. The thing I like about math is how everything works together and isn't contradictory, and how there is usually an infinite number of ways to solve a problem, and the solutions are either right, or wrong, and it can easily be proven if its correct or incorrect.

The secret to math is to first model everything correctly, then to arrange stuff into different, break it apart, manipulate it, until you have something you can work with.

I see you are 20, so I assume you are talking about college/university math classes. What sort of classes are they, and why do you have to take them?
