Unlike most people with AS I've read about, I am 'allergic' (for lack of a better word) to social interactions. I have ended up in tears more than once recently just because I have found myself in a social situation I can't deal with, as in talking in front of groups or to people I don't know well. This is obviously very embarrassing and I would very much appreciate any advice on how to deal with this as it happens often in school.
I also seem to have a problem with homework. I have Maths due in tomorrow, German due in last week and Geography that should have been in back in October. I have tried several strategies for dealing with this but I have a vivid imagination and, when faced with homework, I will escape to "my world" for the next few hours. The only thing that sometimes works is having the teacher yell at me in front of the whole class. Any suggestions?
Finally I have a problem with the standard of top set. Today I got some work back marked and it said "Well done. When you make the effort you show your intelligence and quality. Maintain this standard <- you will do well." This may not sound bad but I make a lot of effort, especially last year when I was working to get back into top set, where I am now. It obviously doesn't look like I'm making any effort, is this because of the homework thing?
