Any NT or otherwise friends?

New to the forum, wondering. Most of my friends are odd and interesting people, but as far as I can tell, only one of them is AS. Is this common among AS people?

Welcome to WP! Looking back over time, I now realize that most of my friends over the years were probably aspie's as well. This is especially true of my old workplace, which was a hi-tech electronics firm.

Haha I actually have one AS friend (football teammate), but he's SO NT, he's like a big hulking mass of testosterone who likes T-Pain and Chris Brown....but he has a speech impediment and couldn't speak til he was 8 lol.

I'm new too All of my friends are interesting / odd people as well (meant in the absolute nicest way), and two fit almost all the criteria for AS but have never been tested. Earlier this year I went on a combined school trip with another school to Vietnam, and by the end of the trip I was spending almost all of my time with one person, who I found out on the last day also had AS. It would be nice to know more people diagnosed with AS, but there don't seem to be very many here.

All of my friends were very much NT. One had ADHD.

Alot of my friends are NT. i only know of 2 or 3 of them that might be aspie or other ASD. Its alot harder to find aspies and ASDies in school, since they tend to hide their DX. In every place i go, I let people know im aspie. Ive even done a few presentations. Is it unusual that ive openly let on about my DX? Do other people do this?

Almost all my friends are NT. Some are very shy, others are very social. I only have one friend who is an Aspie, and I've only known him for a few weeks.

I have not confirmed that any of my friends have AS, however I am suspicious of a few of them.

Most of my friends are NT, but have some kind of ailment to them. I find ordinary and like-minded people boring. Ever since my sister started going to school here, I've had a hard time picking her out from the NT crowd.

As far as I can tell, all of them are NT. They are also socially, but some of them belong to subcultures and interested in topics that are a little off-mainstream, I guess. It's not that what we share though, we just got to know and like each other. I seem to have found the few people that think that I am interestingly weird - as in 'unique' rather than 'inconveniently different' - and are socially involved, too. So through them I'm socializing too, even though it sometimes makes me feel like a burden and I'm never really sure if somebody is a friend.

I actually found myself not getting along well with others that are like me. I don't know if any of them had AS; one definitely hasn't but is just shy, she told me so and it was so awkward to be with her. I had to work with her in a couple of egnlish classes (which was hard because she wouldn't talk to me and I didn't like group work) and ended up being the one who encouraged her to be a little more outcoming and have faith in herself in order to be more successful with presentations and such.

To be honest, I don't have that many friends. I have a few though. Most of them are NT's that share similar interests with me, or at least non-autistic...I'm not sure how typical they really are. Most of them are weird enough to get along with me, and some of them have other mental disorders and problems of their own. Sometimes, I think some of them might even have aspie traits.

I also have a couple of aspie friends and they really do seem to be the ones I get along with the most. Because they're the ones I can relate to you, you know? At the same time though, I have also met some aspies that I really couldn't relate to...

I've had friends with ASD in the past, I have one or two friends (out of....4-5?) that probably have ASD, ie, in SPED classes in school and their mom suspects it. Most of my friends in the past have been "nerds" but now I don't fit as well in the "nerd" social group, but I'm not a cool party rockin' in the house "bro" either. I guess I've met a high proportion of people I've found out later to have NVLD or Aspergers, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 17, and didn't recognize my diagnosis until age 20.

I have one close friend who I could definitely say is NT. Most of the rest of my friends have some kind of mental disorder, and many others may or may not be Aspies, but almost all have very Aspie traits.

Most of my friends are NT, but I have to say I prefer to spend time with those with Asperger's or ADHD. I feel like they understood me better.
