How many people here are called "f*g" or "gay" but you really aren't. It's the most annoying thing and everyone including my friends call me those names. It's also bad enough knowing that you aren't ever going to be in a relationship and your friends call you gay just because you aren't interested in a girl in the school. Some even say things like "Do you give your dad blowjobs everynight?" or "you like taking it up the a$$ don't you?". In my school, you could get suspended or expelled if you say those types of things. But the teachers don't even do anything about.

If you're taking offense by jokes like that, then, it's probably true.

Seriously, if you know you're not gay, then just ignore them..

The bystanders get ideas from the bullies and people start telling rumors. Then it goes to not being able to interact without someone making a joke or comment.

Homophobia is an ugly thing... I have never understood why gay is considered an insult, but obviously nobody wants to be called something they aren't, no matter what that may be. Also I think you are using the word "friend" a little liberal here, if they are this rude to you then they surely aren't your friends.

I don't know what would work. But I bet next time they make a comment like that to you, it would be a bad idea for you to get really worked up about it and start crying, then run into the bathroom, screaming about how you are gonna run away from home and ride the rails to San Francisco. Because that'll only make things worse. 8)

You could file a complaint to the human rights thingy in your area. Most decent schools aren't supposed to tolerate homophobia.

It's not right. If someone called you a "dirty Jew" and you weren't even Jewish, you'd take offense to that. (You'd take offense to that if you were Jewish too). While there's really not much they can do about the term "gay" as it's considered non-offensive (and there's really no way to consider it offensive without being homophobic yourself) but if they call you a "fag" or something like that, regardless of whether you're gay or not, it's like the above-mentioned "dirty Jew". If you're Jewish, or if you're not Jewish, it's still offensive, the fame with "fag" and homosexuality. Then, that could be considered homophobism and is bad.

Those who call others gay are usually questioning their own sexual orientation and call others names to try and hide it.
What they are saying is unacceptable though and they should not get away with any of it. What about telling the school principal? She/He could speak to the parents of those saying it to you and talk to the people saying it to you, themselves. There could be punishment for them.

Or you could speak to the school guidance counsellor. They could offer some suggestions to deal with it.

so, someone that calls someone else a 'dirty Jew' is questioning their own religious feelings and are calling others names to try to hide it?

aren't they just trying to hurt the other person by putting down a whole group of the population and placing the other person IN it?

There is always a solution to someone calling you gay when you're not: get a date (of the opposite sex). Problem solved!

it is not thinking that being gay is something to be solved is the soulution to the problem.

if you don't give a damn what 'they' think or hold to their values, problem solved!

It's not that being gay is a problem that needs to be solved. Not at all. We are talking about straight people here, who are called gay when they know they aren't. If people think they are, getting a partner is the surefire way to prove them wrong.

Sometimes I wish these things offended me. It's like I'm missing out, you know? :)

Oh, and if anyone asks this..
