Alright so I am sensitive to touch and I'm sensitive to taste... I need to get at least 1 filling. Even when my dentist numbs my mouth 5 times! I can still feel him taking out a tooth. I'm extra sensitive ... Anyway to get around it though I know there probably wont... its worth asking!! !

I meant dentist not debtist. My device is unresponsive. =( doesnt allow me to type correctly.

hmmm, wish I could give you an easy answer on that one.

Give yourself a 'treat' to look forward to shortly after the dental visit for the fillings.
Even something like going watch a good movie the following evening, or something you enjoy doing as a special treat. Then focus on 'when this is all over'.

For me it is not so much the what the dentist does to the teeth, it's the injections that gives me nightmares.

You'll get over it ; we move on.
But I feel your anxiety.

I hate going to the dentist, and always have. I also have bad teeth even though I take care of them, so I have to go occasionally. Now we have no dental insurance and no money to pay for the dentist and I have a cavity and wish I could go.

But, one thing that convinced me about how important it is to go is that I read that many, many deaths during and before the middle ages were caused by infections stemming from a tooth or gum. Infection can get in and you can develop sepsis, or endocarditis, both of which, if not treated immediately and aggresively are fatal. The writer Lewis Grizzard died from complications from ignoring a cavity. He had had heart surgery and he was in Russia when he noticed the cavity and he waited a few weeks until he was home to go to the dentist. By then it was too late. He died.

People with Mitral Valve Prolapse are also at higher risk for endocarditis due to dental or gum infections. Thats why people who have MVP many times are given antibiotics before they see the dentist.

So, as bad as it is, imagine how important it can be.

It still doesn't help with the anxiety or discomfort, but it's kind of a motivation to open wide and deal with it. :-)
