Most people that are living here in western Washington are having a snow day. So far, my school (and many more schools around western Washington) has missed two days of school. Fortunately us seniors don't have to make up school at the end of the year! lol Anyways, does anyone else have a snow-day or another type of school cancellation today?

Every day that there's snow on the ground, is a Snow Day for me. I'm 32 and quite frankly, I'm an unemployed Swippie right now. (Look in Random Discussion to see what a Swippie is).

Today? No, the high was around 65 degrees.

Winter peaked its head around the bend a couple weeks back, but we've been having beautiful weather since - sunny and 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

I've heard, though, that the schools around here close if there's only one drop of snow. A sharp contrast to Rhode Island, where school still occurred with a foot of snow on the ground.

Snow day for us yesterday, me the wife n the kid.
May as well not have sent the kid to school today as half the school stayed home and the half that showed up just watched movies all day.
Currently -5C and we still have about 20cm+/- on the ground and the forecast's calling for more flurries tonight.

Nope, we get snow days if we have a blizzard. We have snow plows so the roads get plowed when we get snow. It happens in places where it snows all the time in the winter.

There have been only two instances in Houston during my lifetime where it snowed and stayed on the ground--in 1989 and 2004. Both were on Christmas Eve, when I was off from school (and work during the 2004 snowfall) anyway. When I was in the 3rd grade, we did have an ice storm where we got a day off from school.

However, I live on the Gulf coast, and school and work get cancelled when it looks like a hurricane might be approaching. However, during my freshman year of college (1998), Tropical Storm Frances hit the Houston area, but it was a weak one--weak enough to where life was business as usual.
