So, just out of curiosity, even if you don't have many or any friends, what kind of people are you most interested in or do you think are most likely to accept you? If you get along well with people of a certain social group, what kind of people? Nerds? Goths? Art/Drama/Band kids? If you get along well with any of the above-listed groups, why?

i've noticed that i fit in with the sort off to the side math/science geniuses. even if they aren't geniuses i still fit in with them. they all seem to have a wider imagination and don't look at me when like i'm crazy when i say certain things.

I had to select "No one. Not even myself." because... uh... it's true.

At my last school, I didn't have terribly many friends, but I certainly had a place that society had given me. Society had asked me to play a certain role, whether I liked it or not.

But in moving I am confused by the complexity of high school society at my new school... it stands before me like a two-mile tall tower of rock... climbing... climbing... will the peak ever be scaled?

When it comes to who I might get along with, I'm not going to group people and say, "I'll get along with the science people but not the preppy nerds." I'm going to look at everyone on an individual basis - as contrary as this is to the group-oriented nature of society.

Oddly enough, I tend to get on really well with band geeks despite having no musical talent whatsoever.

Aside from that, I tend to hang around various people from my more upper-level classes or the Latin geeks on the rare occasions I chat with someone outside of school. I'm like aleclair: I don't really care what social caste someone identifies with; I'd rather just make friends with people who interest me.

Some days by myself, some days anyone who accepts me for who I am.

Most not all NTs accept me for who I am.

If anyone, people who are slightly off normal themselves. I tend to have friends who are very artistic (whether it is strictly art or music or theater), but I'm definately NOT artistic.

The few friends I've had IRL were of the artsy variety; they seem to not only tolerate, but also appreciate, weirdness.

In a way, artistic people are so different that they almost expect others to be different than normal, as well. Or that was how a friend of mine put it to me.

The "goths" at my school aren't exactly full-blown in their gothiness. Actually, there's a great deal of overlap between Goths and the various nerds (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Anime, etc) at my school. They don't really identify as goth, but occasionally are clad similarly, and have a cynical streak. They ridicule and mock me as others do (I can't work out yet whether this is playful or malicious, or both), but they tend to be the most interesting people at my school, and we share a lot in common in terms of interests and musical taste. None of them are really my "close friends", but they're fun people to be around.

Everyone really. But I've had VERY bad experiances with preps and cheerleaders/jocks,because I stood out from them, mainly how I dressed.

However,I do have some good friends that are preps.

But this is also where I get turned off most about teenagers: labels and stereotypes.AND drama.

Traditionally, I've gotten on best with the science-geek types, but I seem to attract gay friends (especially lesbians) without trying. Several years ago I worked in the call centre for a major wireless phone company, on the evening shift. There was a substantial GLBT population among the call centre staff, and I got along with them well enough to get invited to their parties. I even tagged along with some of them to a local gay bar once or twice. And they didn't care that I wasn't gay myself.

Now, I work in an office on a straight Monday to Friday daytime desk job, and I don't socialize with any of my co-workers...

In high school, I was about one of maybe half a dozen gamers in my school. We gamed at a gaming store where we played everything from DnD to Warhammer to Stargrun. s**t, I remember I was designing a futuristic combat boardgame and was using world.guns.ru to research the capabilities of real guns (including such obscure items like the H&K G11 or the FN-2000) then I got called to the office for using the computers for militant/anarchist reasons. The strange thing is they didn't do anything to me the next year, when I used the library printers to basically print Myron Fagan's entire speech on the nature of the Illuminati conspiracy for world domination, which I kept in a folder of conspiracy theories, along with the 9/11 conspiracy theories, the MKULTRA manifestos, Protocols of the Wise men of Zion, the Golden Bough, and the fall of the Knights Templar.

So while I was a gamer, I was also part of the tinfoil-hat population for a brief period of time.

Same here.
I can actually find conversation topics with them, and since they're more logical-minded they don't care much about my awkwardness (they're more aspie-ish than most anyway).

I usually get along with with the artsy people (no artistic ability here), the gamers, the gay and lesbian population (about a fourth of my friends are gay/lesbian), and the metalheads. I also get along with the people who are intrested in philosophy.

Most of my friends fit into most if not all of these groups. So I am mostly around the artistic, gaming, metalheads and we talk about philosophy. 8O
