Why do people use thongs?

I am getting to the age where other people my age (girls) have thongs, even my friends have them, but I do not understand why people would like thongs, they look extremely uncomfortable. Does anyone know why people like having uncomfortable underwear?

They think it makes their butts look "cute" or "sexy". For some, it works. For others, it does the opposite. For most, it makes no difference at all.

The lack of a visible panty line ("VPL") is a significant factor, while already having shapely buttocks is another.

I have never found them appealing because I know what goes on back there.
Butt floss seems nasty to me, but some people get a kick out of that kind of thing.

You don't have to wear thongs if you don't want to.

Just wear regular panties.
