Anybody else have this problem? I have a lot of awkward silences when I'm around my "friends". I don't mind just sitting in silence myself, but neurotypical people seem to. I don't want to sound repetitive or ask dumb questions like "what's your favorite color" "what books do you like" over and over just to end the silence because other people seem uncomfortable. I enjoy intellectual conversations, but at my age (14) there aren't any peers I know who also do. How do I come up with things to say?
I feel this way too. That's why I make friends with adults and older teens ^_______^ Animals too.
First all, you really shouldn't worry about what other people might think about you when you are being silent. It may sound hard to do being a teen and all, but your life is a lot easier that way. You have to realize that you are in charge of your life and if other people think you're weird, anti-social, etc. just know that they don't know you and they are not in control of what you do and what you say.
Also silence is actually much deeper than any deep word in the dictionary or any spiritual song in any album. Its because its a rare thing to find in today's busy body world. Many people fear it.
I'm here to talk about anything deep if you'd like.
