Girls are generally known to mature earlier then boys but when it comes to levels of maturity that depends on the individuals really.
I've been confronted by this "Women mature earlier than men" claim frequently.
I call
bullsnot, because being reproductively capable at an earlier age than males as
the de facto sign of maturity hardly rates as being significant, since it involves no effort on the female's part, but only genetic programming and environmental conditions (i.e., diet, medication, health, et cetera).
To me, "maturity" is more of an emotional and intellectual accomplishment. To achieve independence from friends (especially boyfriends), family (especially brothers, fathers, and husbands), support networks (especially social cliques), start careers and achieve financial stability before becoming parents, and meet financial obligations (mortgages, business overdrafts) on their own (without help from daddy or hubby) -- in short, to accept personal responsibilities is more of an indicator of
real maturity. If women mature so much more quickly than men, then why are so many women so eager to find a "Sugar Daddy" who will pay their bills and provide financial support, yet look down upon any man of the same age who is looking for a "Sugar Mama" to do the same for them?
Surely the acceptance of personal responsibility for one's own actions - without blaming others for one's own mistakes - is a more worthy assessment of "maturity" than merely achieving reproductive capability at an earlier age?
