Any Native American Aspies?
Hey my names brad, and my native American name is Little Buffalo. i was wondering if there were any other Native american people out there besides me who have Aspergers Syndrome. I will be completely honest with you though im only 25% Cherokee, but i am a member of an intertribal villiage in Pennsylvania. I love the native american culture because It is a beautiful culture thats very important to preserve, and it is a dying culture for that matter. I love powwows especially since you get to drum, dance, and dress just as our ancestors did and its fascinating cause you feel as if your back in time.
Hi!
Im not Native American (im 13/16ths irish, 1/16th african, & 2/16th german)
but the thing is is that i love Native American culture.
I definitely agree that it is a culture that ALL people must preserve.
It is a beautiful culture that was (and still is) so far ahead of its time!!
I was lucky enough to learn about the beliefs of Native peoples, since i used to have a best friend who was 25% mohawk.
Her mother used to teach me about the importance of spiders in some cultures, for example.
So basically, i find it to be a beautiful, interesting, and very groundbreaking culture.
Cause the indigenous people were doing things long before anyone thought to.
Like how the Native people of central America performed brain surgey for their warriors, and anyone who received head trauma. Oh! And they also did plastic surgery.
Its just so amazing to me.
So yeah, just thought id say how proud you should be of being Native American.
No matter how "large" or "small" the percentage is, your ancestors blood will always run through your veins!

I think its amazing that someone who is does not even have Native American blood is trying to preserve native american traditions and trying to learn all you can about it. In fact it seems to me you might be more interested in native culture than i am, which is great! You know if you really wanna learn more my suggestion is to go to a powwow. i assume you live in america and Powwows are all around the United States, just check websites on powwows and you probably will find one that will be in your area sometime this summer. A powwow is basically where Native americans will dress up in traditional clothing, and they basically do traditional dances and will perform traditional music all day, along with story telling and even venders who will be selling or trading crafts that natives have been making long before settlers ever came onto this land. Its a great time and i bet youd love it
I am part native american. You would never guess it because of how pale I am lol. According to my grandmom on my dads side we are decendents of pocahontas (sp?) and the shape of my face is what I assume to be part of my native american genetics. I have no idea tho lol. Sry if this is kinda all over the place but I'm a bit distracted by my family yelling at my cat trying to eat our dinner...
I am also extremly pale, white as a ghost. It is certainly possible your a descendent of Pocahontas. The most common thing with a native americans face is the eyes in my opinion. we all have that footballl shaped eye, and i know when i smile all you see is a little thin slanted black line like a chinese person lol.
Im Sioux Indian and French Canadian, i am not allowed to join the tribe my family belongs to because my dad and my grandpa arent on good terms so he never registered my dad and the tribe said because of that i cant be registered either which sucks my grandpa spent nearly 2 years trying to find a way to get me registered with no luck
our tribe is in Michigan, in the Sault Ste. Marie area near the America/Canada border

Thats very interesting , I know i tried to get registered on my families res about 8 months ago because im trying to get native scholarships for college since we dont have a whole ot of money in our family, and apperently you can only be up to 6 yrs old or something like that. They told me however that i can get registered if i go to the res and tell the council in their own language why i want to be registered, and quite frankly i only know one word, Wado, which means your welcome. I agree it all seems stupid to me, it doesnt matter what age you are or if your father was registered or not. We have native blood no matter what, and last i checked everyone on the res spoke english anyways we dont even use our native tongue anymore you know. but what can you do i guess

Keritaconus is a rare eye disease less than 160,000 people have it in the US and out of that number that have it only 6800 roughly need surgery, i had my first eye surgery in 7th grade, my 2nd in 8th and i need another in both eyes every 5-10 years
Keritaconus means thinning and scarring of the cornea there are multiple ways to get it, me? my eyes squeaked when i rubbed them and as a kid it was entertaining when i was bored and in 6th grade i was diagnosed with it and the next year i went blind in my left eye and immediately had surgery, well we had to postpone the original date for the following month because we didnt have any cornea's at the time that werent from people in their 70s-80s and that would not be much help
the cornea in my left eye is from a 22 year old, the cornea in my right eye is from a 19 year old

I legally qualify as a native American and that's about it. I respect the culture but don't like what subsidizing and perhaps an over-active sense of counter-nationalism have done to the community. I guess the best part is I can't be accused of being racist hahaha.

I'm not native American but precolumbian history is a big interest of mine - all of the areas, right from the Inuit territories in the far north to the Mapuche in Argentina. But mainly Inuit, Haida/Tlingit, Iroqouis, Mesoamericans (Nahuatl, Olmec, Mayan), Inca, Pueblo/Anasazi and related groups, Mississipian/Hopewell culture, and Tairona/Muisca.
