Hi I'm wondering if I should be screened for autism.

Um I don't know how to start this but a year back or so I stumbled upon the AQ test when reading about some symptoms that applied to me. I took the test and scored pretty high and didn't really think about it until this year and retook the test. This time my score was still high, 44 to be exact. I am currently sixteen and have never been diagnosed for anything. I have though always been maybe too anioxus and shy around strangers and new places but when I adjust I am talkative and outgoing. Some even have said that once they get to know me they can't get me to stop rambling about the same thing over and over, so much so that at times they can't get a word in. I am currently doing well done school and will even graduate a year early, though I will admit I always had a harder time make friends compared to my peers. Also I'm a girl. So should I look into this.

Look at the criteria for ASD online. You should look at the DSM-V. The information is available online. You need to have deficits in certain areas, and enough deficits that it causes difficulties in everyday life.

If you have difficulty in understanding socializing, and have little natural social instinct, that's one sign. But that alone is not enough for a diagnosis of ASD. If you only have difficulties with knowing how to socialize, you may have social (pragmatic) communication disorder.

Autism is not just about difficulties with socializing; it's a neurological difference that causes problems in various areas of functioning. And not all people with ASD have the same symptoms, nor the same levels of severity in each symptom.

I'd say that's a decent bottom line answer. :)

I'm not sure the talking or walking is too relevant. I took my first steps at 8 months, and was speaking at probably a second-grade level at two years of age.

Most people I've heard of seemed to have walked or talked later than usual, actually, so I believe I'd be considered somewhat atypical in that regard. But that doesn't mean you don't have ASD.
