Hi everyone,

One thing that's bothering me right now is the way it almost feels like I'm neither NT nor aspie. I have a diagnosis from when I was about five, but it's been almost ten years since then, and it feels like I've grown out of sensory issues, I'm actually capable of a fair amount empathy and all that sort of thing, but a time it fees like I'm really struggling with high school. I almost makes me wonder if I'm just really socially awkward, nerdy and not very good coping rather than anything else. I don't know. I guess it just feels ike I'm in this extremely high-functioning grey zone where I should be able to be "normal" but I just can't. Sorry, it's just one thing that's bothering me right now.

Hi Jack! I can definitely relate to what you're saying. I think it's typical for many Aspies to feel neurotypical sometimes and more Aspie other times - for example, you may feel more socially confident one day or more empathetic than usual like an NT, and then another day you wake up and you feel aware of your Aspie traits all over again. I'm similar to you I think, my psychologist says I'm very high functioning and it's definitely the grey area like you said. I am quite empathetic, and I think many Aspies have a lot of empathy. It makes it very confusing because people often perceive you as NT when you're not, or you feel like you fit in with NTs but you still feel different and off kilter with them? I hope I make sense! I feel the same!! :D :P
