They say I don't ever do anything at home during the day. For their information I enjoy studying different languages. Right now, I'm into German and Japanese. I've also been reading about different countries and such. Yet they say my brain is turning to mush. I wish I could convince them that I'm not just wasting my life at home all the time. They seem to forget that the internet has lots of information and that wikipedia exists.

Foreign languages are an incredible skill to have. It opens many job opportunities in the future.

If anything go and demand they get you a foreign language tutor.

of course! after all isn't it all about us?

why should we worry if the room gets cleaned or the laundry gets done? Let your parents do it, after all, aren't children our future?? shouldn't the child be exempt from the every day chores those with less potential should do. . .for us???

parent's can be so narrow minded about what is important!

My parents are so annoying ;__; My mom is always stepping on a pencil or something when she comes into my room, and she always screams at me to clean it, and then I'm just like "Don't come in and you won't step on anything and I won't have to clean it. Win/win for us!" and she gets so mad and is all "Don't sass me."

Absolutely! Why can't parent's SEE that we are ok with out all of their little rules and regulations. so WHAT if they pay all the bills and make all the arrangements that provide our food and clothing and schooling? Isn't that what they are FOR?? I mean, we didn't ASK to be born to them, so they had better put up with our sh*t! Why should we make their lives easier for them by respecting them, doing what they ask, not talking back to them?

sheesh! next thing you know they will want us to grow up and take responsibility of ourselves!

As much as I hate to agree with someone who uses that much sarcasm in one post I have to say that sinsboldly has a point, would it hurt you to play by their rules, humour them so to say?
Nekoguy however I think is making a good point, if he is studying then his parents should get off of his back about him being indoor. I sugest you try to explain what ti is that you are doing and why you are doing it, they aren't likely to leave you alone before they are made to understand your point of view. Don't take this as an invitation to grow roots though  the outdoors can be cool too.

Strange how that worked out isn't it?

I guess I will have to hang a warning sock on the door knob when I am gonna use sarcasm, because I, too, can take things much too literaly!!

However, I would like to say that the parents probably don't have a problem with Nekoguy studying languages. They had a problem with day to day chores not getting done. they asked or expected for certain criteria be done and it was not. What someone was doing INSTEAD of getting their chores done was not the issue. He could have been watching cartoons, or preparing his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, it isn't the point

There is a BALANCE between what we want to do and what we have to do, and teaching and leaning that balance is what is going on here.
