I got inspired by the wearing clothes more than once thread. what kind of clothes do you like, what makes you feel comfortable with yourself, what expresses who you are? same w/ hair, shoes, and (girls) makeup. do you confine to the social norm, or do you do what makes you feel comfortable, unique, or just happy?

any takers?

I like clothes that when I look in the mirror I don't want to cry. That leaves a surprisingly wide variety. I can be preppy-ish one day and goth-ish the next (though on neither day do I bother with makeup, too much work). I generally do not wear skirts but own two "skorts" which I am willing to wear because I can sit however I want in them without showing my underwear. I also refuse to spent a lot on clothing. I think my maximum (and I usually aim for below the maximum) is $15-$20 for a shirt, and $25-$30 for a pair of pants (which are both more expensive and tricker for me to find in my size- I'm built weird or something). Very few of my clothes actually cost that much, mind you- or if they didn, they were christmas presents and that doesn't count. I virtually always wear a jacket, even in summer, or have one tied around my waist but that's because they provide pockets and because I'm cold a lot. However I sometimes resort to this kinda goth-looking purse I got at walmart or somewhere like that with an amazing carrying capacity (it's like a D&D bag of holding apparently).

My one really unique thing is that I have eleven piercings in each ear. I alternate between silver rings in them, and studs (which I do in a rainbow of progressing colors, mostly because that's the type of studs you can buy cheap in multi-packs- I hate buying individual earrings).

I also have a sort of non-unique "signature" clothing quirk- I almost always wear socks with cats on them with my regular shoes (which never change and look unisex, I think they're pleather, anyway they're black and give me about two inches of height and I can kick in and out of them because I'm too lazy for laces).

Shirt: Blank T-shirt (tagless)
Jacket/Coat/Whatev: Black MegaTokyo NINJ4 hoodie
Pants: Either dark 5 pocket low jeans or low baggy cargo jeans.
Socks: nondescript short white
Shoes: Whatever I own at the time
Underwear: The boxor brief: the ultimate compromise 8)

T-shirt that probably no one else owns that is either from the Goodwill or Target, WalMart, whatever.
Jean shorts, and sometimes pants (remember, FLORIDA).
Socks that fit my odd shaped feet.
Shoes that fit my odd shaped feet.
Comb back my hair so it feathers.
Clean shaven.
If I had money, I would care a little bit more aobut fashion.

I usually wear sweatclothes.
This is a result of middle school.
My mother never let me wear sweatpants to school, but I just kept doing so and finally she relented.
Then I wore them every day to defy norms.
Now I don't have any other pants, unfortunate, as I would like to wear some real pants sometimes.
Same thing maybe with shirts.

I also use four pieces of yarn, braided, to hold my hair back, which weirds people out considerably.

I'm tempted to get my hair somwhat shorter(currently 6" in back). People assume I'm a hippy, and apply the stereotypes that they apply to hippies to me.
Hence I'm a communist, a drug user, an absolute pacifist, or some other such associations that they make.

Dark t-shirt, even in winter. Especially in winter.
Blue jeans
A pair of shoes so ancient I'm surprised they haven't fallen apart completely yet

That's just my current outfit, though. In high school I always went with the hooded-sweatshirt-and-khakis look.

I don't have alot of money, so some of my clothes hardly 'express' who I am.
I have one ear piercing- in my right ear like Gary Numan (many people call me 'gay' I don't care)
I typically wear jeans, either my ripped grey ones, or my H & M ones.
For tops I have some assorted ones, they vary from blue/green striped top to The Smiths or The Cure tops.

My appearance doesn't matter to me.

I wear a lot of black, but more on the comfortable, classy side of dressing. My clothes are fairly nice, usually a black (or other dark colour) turtleneck and either black or navy blue pants, as well as either knee socks and black tennis shoes or sandals, depending on the occasion and my mood. I also really enjoy wearing my black trenchcoat whenever and wherever I can.

Currently, however, I'm wearing a black shirt, socks and flannel pants.

I like a lot of different clothes. in seventh grade I started choosing more or less what I what I wanted to where not what my mom wanted me too. so I don't look like a baby that much...I like black clothing, black and hot pink, umm alot of different things. I got one of those fancy-ish tank-tops with the flowing bottom(and I where it under a short brown jacket) whatever makes me look good, and I feel comfortable in.

Grey T-shirt w/ pocket, white, dark green, or beige khakis or khaki-shorts, low cut socks, New Balance shoes. I consider myself rather generic

I'm pretty much the complete opposite of what everyone is here. I don't put too much work into my appearance, but it just looks like I do. I work at a clothing store, so i buy a lot of clothes all the time. i usually wear jeans w/ a few bright shirts layered over each other (like a polo and a sweater), maybe a blazer, with coordinated shoes and sometimes a belt to match.

I also make a lot of my clothes. I'll shop pretty much everywhere I find good stuff. I guess you can say my life revolves around clothes, or it will in the future haha

I don't think any of us put much work into our appearance (I only care if my hair looks good).
I know in my case, I'm highly self-aware, but not self-conscious.
