Mine are vaguely into it, but leave most of the "problems", to a shrink.

My mom kinda has an idea about it. Everyone else in my family thinks I'm just throwing out excuses.

My mom is very much an AS fanatic, to the point where she sometimes even thinks she understands it more than I do.

Mine still just think I'm a horrible person, and all the AS stuff is just an excuse.

Though my mum has started to realise that I can be wonderful to her too and that I don't actually like losing it and hurting those around me.

My dad never will, he still thinks I'm just a (quote) "greedy as*hole" and he probably always will, which is funny because he's spent his whole life denying his own social anxiety, his own obsessiveness, and his own rage.

My mother is vaguely knowledgable about AS. She knows that people with AS lack social skills, sometimes have obsessions and often have certain sensitivities to things like clothing, food, noises etc. Basically, she knows as much about it as you would expect someone who read a leaflet on AS would.

I have nothing to do with my father. He knows I have AS, but doesn't know what it is and is not willing to learn.

How much do your parents know about your Asperger's?

Mentioned the possibility, they laughed, never brought up the issue again.

Ever since I was diagnosed, my mom has learned all she can about it. She finds it interesting, and it helps her to be more understanding with me. It's great!

My mom has literally bought a whole shelf of books on AS since my diagnosis. It's actually really annoying, I'll say something and she'll say, "Oh, that's a characteristic of Aspereger's."

Mum knows enough to be an advocate for me at school ((which is usually the only place I need help, really.)) Dah knows somewhat about it, but often thinks I'm using it as an excuse. ((Which drives me up the wall a mite, just because I don't have as bad of symptoms as some people I know, and can most of the time pass off as fairly normal, doesn't mean I don't have it, whereas my social skills are well-enough to get me by, I constantly obsess over my interests and go mad if I go too long without either thinking about them, or seeing pictures and whatnot.))

Pretty much... I'd say it's better thsn both claiming it's not even real, I'm just glad I have Mother who understands, and just avoid the issue with Dah. Who, even though he has never said it outright, I tend to have the feeling he thinks it can be treated, cured, and whatnot....

My mom is EXTREMELY knowledgable with my Autism and she helps me muddle through a lot of the struggles I go through.
My father on the other hand knows virtually nothing about me or my Autism and he's just a jerk that shouldn't be a father!! !! !! ! (Sorry, slight angry at him still)

Dad knows there's a possibility that I might have AS (the shrink told him that last year), but he doesn't know about the diagnosis (yet). Mom, however, knows it all, but she doesn't really think I'm that different...

My mother knows a lot, most of which I told her. She's great about it. My father just now accepted my diagnosis and knows enough about it to not enrage me with his ignorance like he used to.
