Even though I wasn't bullied (physical or very directed verbal), I was made fun of a lot, even more in elementary and middle school. I'm still made fun of now, but it's not as bad. I've also gotten used to it, so it is typically something that I just choose to ignore.
This is mostly true for me as well. I went to a rather small Roman Catholic school from K-8 (although I've always been atheist) where the class sizes were around 30 people. This small, easy controllable atmosphere made it so there was literally no typical school violence. I did put up with the harrassing mainly because my anger works like this: I get angry, as if my body feels like it's on fire, then after about 3 seconds, I feel something totally opposite.
Well, maybe the physical violence never came my way because one time out on the playground, a kid came up behind me and grabbed my neck. I panicked and elbowed the kid in the nose, completely crushing it. Last I saw him (a year ago) he's quite homely because of it...and is now a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
