I can't help but see how much NTs talk. Most of the time I don't understand it. They go on and on about pointless stuff.

They're on their phones on facebook in class all the time, etc.

My question is what could they be talking about to be able to talk so much? It almost seems never ending, they just go on and on. I thought us aspies were the one's who raved, who went on about our special interests without paying attention to if other people are listening or not.

But NT's just seem capable of talking and talking at school, I know it's making conversation and I talk to my friend at lunch a bit, but not for an hour of class non-stop like they do, just 5-10 minutes of talking to him at lunch.

What do you think? Do NT teens just talk way too much or not? Why?

This annoyed the hell out of me in high school, I remember. I would see and hear kids around me constantly texting and chatting about their idiotic party escapades, which made it nearly impossible for me to focus on my work or the lessons at hand. Music helped for blocking out the noise, but it didn't help with allowing me to focus on the lessons since sometimes I had to listen to the words the teacher was saying.

Even nowadays outside of high school, whenever I'm around one of my friends and I see them constantly glued to their headsets or their cell phones, I still can't understand how they could spend all their leisure time just yakking away, constantly interacting with other people. Must be an NT thing, I guess. :P I like talking too, especially when it's about my special interests or whatever, but I don't like continuous back and forth texting or voicechatting, and I prefer just posting on a forum or something where the conversations are much slower paced and don't require instant feedback.

By God, the nonstop chatter they have. I'm surprised the teachers yell at us so rarely.

I can't understand how they can just keep talking when there's really nothing left to talk about.

Tell me about it. All day long they gossip, or they text, or they Instagram, or they Kik, or they Snapchat each other...WHY???? Is finding out that X and Y were drunk together at Z's house party really THAT interesting?

I also hear even a few NT's agree with me that people like to talk too much.

So even some NT's we meet think people talk too much... 8O

it aggravates me...in school especially when teachers have to yell just to make us shut the f*** up...i mean...just be respectful!
i mean how to they find so many ways to keep a conversation going about one little thing??

and it's not just teens too...i see adults all the time just blah blahing away, and my dad especially is guilty of this,no, my entire paternal family. gosh, how they love to gossip! :?

I completely get where you're coming from. They jabber and carry on about absolutely nothing, flitting from one thing to the next, randomly. Yet when we try to have a conversation about ONE thing we start hearing how obsessed we are, and how other interests are healthy.

No thank you, I don't need other interests, I'm not interested in them you twit.

But yeah, NT's....they are very tiring to be around. We must be patient with them.

i understand what you mean. for me i played music everytime i had the chance, but when the teacher started talking, having to take them off bugged me.
so there was a rule that only one earbud had to be in at a time.

thank god for all sorts of private music players

I could never stand listening to music with one earbud. I listen to a lot of artists that use stereo panning effects, and they just sound weird when you only have one earbud in. Nowadays, I've mostly switched to using over-ear headphones. They tend to be a bit higher quality, and when I see someone wearing them, I usually think that they are more "serious" about their music than a typical person, so I hope other people think the same when they see me wearing them. :P

Am like that too and canm relate. I honestly hate earbuds, small annoying uncomfortable, low quality. And you can barely hear the music anyway but that's exactly the point - to listen to music. My best quality ever headphones that were big, comfy and high quality broke, so I've been forced to get used to earbuds then.

At least headphones and earbuds, even not just at school but in public or on a bus/train or whatever means not only can we block out distractions but avoid social interaction.

I've noticed it's a bit of a social ettiqeutte to almost always leave a person with headphones/earphones on alone unless absolutely necessary.

So there's that. Want to avoid social interaction? JUST WEAR EARPHONES!! ! THE MAGIC CONVERSATION KILLER!! ! 8) XD

Yes and in high school they kept telling me to be quiet even though I usually don't talk. During lunchtime I ate outside (or usually was exploring the school grounds because school lunch was disgusting) because the cafe was extremely noisy from the talking or sometimes there were fights and I liked the quiet as most of the school was packed in one room. In class especially in 9th and 10th grades some non-stop talkers would result in everyone losing in on doing fun things in class or us doing more boring work. Seriously it can wait 'till after class.
Nowadays the young adults are always on there phones like the people on WALL-E with TV monitors.

my math teacher this year loved to keep us in after class, or cut us off from fun(ner) activities whenever we talked too much (this happened almost every day).

sometimes she would purposely give instructions in a low voice, when people wouldn't shut up they would miss out and not know what to do.
genius.

I don't understand how NT's can talk about nothing. I remember when I was in high school, teachers would oftentimes punish a whole class when only some people were talking over the teacher. It was really annoying. The worst part was when my two best friends (both NTs) would try to talk to me in the middle of class. While I enjoyed talking to them, getting good grades was something I took pride in. Also, I didn't want to be rude to the teacher. However, if I refused to talk to my friends, they would act like I was being rude to them! So frusturating! :x
