For whatever reason, I can't understand verbal instruction. Of course simple things such as 'take out the trash' are understandable, but when people try to explain games to me or verbally give me directions to a place, it goes right over my head. It means nothing.

Anyone else have similar experiences with this?

I am totally bad with complex or multiple verbal instructions. By the time I figure out what is being said, the person giving the instructions has moved on with yet even more instructions. In situations where the hard of hearing are accepted, you can possibly ask the person giving the instructions to write them down. You can use the excuse of not hearing well.

That's a good idea!
