I found it because my old consouler suggested it to me and mom. My mom really wanted me to find a site with people that may be like me. I basically  my eyes and went, "Okay, whatever..."

So, I still don't believe I have Aspergers, or any other social or sensory issues because I really don't need a label to dominate my life. I also believe in the Law of Attraction, but whatever I think becomes a real thing, so I simply won't believe I have Aspergers or any other "disorder" like that.

We need to quit thinking it's a disorder. We just think differently. Asperger's allowed great minds like Einstein and Isaac Newton to focus on one thing until they knew it intimately. Some may argue that they didn't have it. Sure, it's just speculation, but it fits.
I'm 47 and self diagnosed. My counselor kind of agrees. But, he's use to dealing with kid's with it; not someone who has had 40 years to work on their social skills. He also doesn't take into account how I dive into subjects at the exclusion of all others.
Yeah, you certainly don't need a label to dominate your life. So, put it away and think about it when you need to. Who knows, maybe in a few years it will help you understand yourself better.

A co-worker had been checking it out on the computer at work and I saw it.
From there... I can't seem to stay away.
She joined and posted for a short while, but I don't believe she has posted for a few months now.
She saw my WRONGPLANET hat the other day at work and asked if it was a Wrong Planet hat :D

I actually also saw this on some other website that just lists websites.. StumbleUpon... I was thinking Alex linked it there, but I don't know who really did. I was there looking for ADD/HD and Asperger's websites.

I was having a hard time accepting my Aspieness and had been thinking a lot about it at the time and started looking for things to do with Aspergers on the internet and came across a link to Wrong Planet. I nearly didn't join but I was feeling a bit like an alien at the time, so it was a good fit :D

I asked online if there were any online Aspergers groups, and somebody suggested this website :D

Err...If I remember correctly, my mom told me of it, and I just kindof shruged it off, then finally, curiosity made me sign up. I am glad I did.

It was only about a month ago I found it (i think), but I can't quite remember exactly. I think it may have been Wikipedia when I was looking up something on AS. Looking there now, seeing as there is a link to here, I am fairly certain that's it.

Quote:
...Cultural aspects... The Internet has allowed individuals with AS to communicate and celebrate with each other in a way that was not previously possible due to their rarity and geographic dispersal. A subculture of aspies has formed. Internet sites like Wrong Planet have made it easier for individuals to connect...

Months after I was diagnosed, my nana was doing some research on aspergers. She saw this site and told me about it.
