Sometimes, when I am depressed or not feeling well emotionally, I play a sad or depressing song I can relate to as a form of emotional release.

It's what makes music 'magical'.

It's what makes music well music. That's why a lot of music sucks today.
No Emotion. Just some (pretty) person talking into a microphone and
reading the music that guy in the office cubicle wrote off the top of his
head.
Good music is music that makes you feel emotion or that makes you
want to get up and dance. Magic has nothing to do with it. The same goes
for books
A good book makes you feel the emotion, the suspense, and the setting.
A good movie does the same.
Entertainment must have emotion
   :D :pale: :x

The whole point of music (hell, art in general) is to convey emotion.

Often times, it takes the most extreme emotion to make me stir a love for a song. This has happened few times, usually circumstantial.

Considering I have perfect pitch, it is easy for me to know if music is in a major or minor key. If it is in a major key then I think of happiness, if it is in a minor key then I think of sadness. So yeah I do feel emotion when listening to music.

Yes.

Sometimes, when I listen to classical music, or opera, I start to cry. It's like the song itself paints pictures in your mind and you can't help but look at them. Some part of me asks "How could a mortal being possibly create something so beautiful?"

Sometimes I feel a little sad when I listen to songs about breaking up.

blade1993, totally correct except magic has everything to do with it ;)

Jonsi, awesome taste in music there.

Music is the love of my life, I can't think of a better way to put it than that.

Music is said to be a universal form of communication. Everyone knows what a minor chord sounds like, it sounds sad. Everyone knows that a major chord sounds happy.

Music is one of my two intense obsessions, the other being Nintendo. I find great meaning and depth to all songs. Writing songs and singing them is my only way of safely unleashing my emotions without hurting people or making myself awkward in their eyes. That's why I mainly took the path of a musician studying Diploma in Music and also because I'm very good at it.

I have an ear for music unlike anyone else, I haven't met anyone so far with an ear for music as good as mine. I really surprised myself when I first did Cert III and IV in Music at how superior my ear of music was to everyone there. I got 100% in a music theory because of it!

Okay off topic, my three favourite bands/artists are Avril Lavigne, Evanescence and Within Temptation. The third is a Duth symphonic rock band famous in Europe, sold over 10million records.
