I am 16, just turned 16 actually.

And no. Here in Canada you can start work at 15 at SOME jobs but apparently most are 16.

I haven't had the best experiences at work, but thats just me. What I will say is make sure you get something, you may enjoy doing. Trust me on that one! :)

I have been unemployed since December 2003. My last job was hell because my illness was starting to get out of control and nobody, even my parents, seemed to notice. The Powers That Be (that is, the people involved in my recovery) are of the opinion that I'm not ready yet to have a real job. They want me to start with occasional volunteer work, but I feel that I can work if it's a job that doesn't require a lot of social interaction (by far my weakest point).

there are a lot of places here in ontario that will hire at 14. the reason for some hiring only at 16 is due to the wsib coverage...if you're under 16, the company is not covered by wsib for insurance should any injury to you occur (i know this is for ontario, not sure for the other provinces/territories). but some companies will still hire at 14 knowing this. i worked for shoppers drug mart for 18 years, and i constantly hired at the age of 14...and we never had any kinds of problems with that. i only recently found out with starting at a new company whose policy is not to hire younger than 16 what the reason is.

but good luck with trying to find something...have you checked out places like your local library, animal shelter or even with assisting with sports related activities (like time-keeper/referee/umpire etc)? i know a lot of kids i hired had that kind of experience as well as some of their first jobs....

I don't have a job. Mainly because the only places that will hire people my age are shops and doing work experience in a shop has put me off retail work for life. I am also very busy with school at the moment.

I don't have a job because my parents won't let me till I can drive, which makes sense.

But the local Big Boy, McDonald's and Meijer are close enough to ride my bike to >.<

I worked at macdonalds for my work experience. Maybe it was just me, but I found it very stressful.

I turn the wheel, the restaurant wheel. Working at the Cracker Barrel (#521 to be exact), I do hosting and dish (bussing). Both suck, but at least I am in an in-between state. If I feel extroverted I seat people. Otherwise, there are dirty tables calling my name. Today's holiday week paycheck should rock though. 30 freakin' hours.

I got the job because my dad also works part-time, allowing me to skip the interview. This store is the only store in the district that hires minors b/c it is the slowest.

I used to have an ideal job in an Internet Cafe.

They fired me because of some of my personal rants on my blog. Either that or they didn't want someone like me, who has difficulty dealing with customers in charge. ****ers...

I have a job as a janitor. It's really nice, and I'd reccomend janitorial work for any teen with aspergers, espicially at a place that doesn't serve customers ( a school, an office building, etc.). You don't have to talk to very many people, and you can generally get away with working relativally slowly. Very unstressful.

The longest I've been unemployed was 6 months, which was an absolute nightmare!

At the moment I'm a reprographics technician at a reasonably large print company. The job involves taking artwork provided by graphic designers and making it workable, as an alarming number are so inept at Quark, Illustrator etc it makes me wonder how they actually keep their own jobs.

I'm 16 years old...I'm not currently employed.

I have volunteered at a cattery at the local vet clinic on weekends. The job itself was fine, but the payed employees who were a lot older than me were bossy and made me do their work [I was 12, they were 19] so I quit after a few months.

I also have had a volunteer job at a pet store while the boss was away. He actually left me in-charge of the store for a week when he was away! [Of course, there were other employees there]. This job was too stressful, too much for me to deal with. The animals kept on getting ill and dying...was no fault of mine, they just had unrelated illnesses. I quit after one month of working there. The store was closed down about two weeks after I left.

I did apply for a job at BurgerKing last year. I got an interview...anxiety got the best of me and I didn't turn up. Thats bound to look terrible on my CV.
