Even though you are a teen, do you sometimes feel older?

I have always felt like this.

I get certain concepts most people my age wouldn't get.

I have always been myself, I never felt I had to fake it. (Okay...maybe I did sometimes...) but mostly I was myself and people tried to shut me up because of that. Unfortunately, they were able to because I am a sensitive person and I do have trouble sticking up for myself and finding the right words to say.

I personally don't believe there is a diagnosis and here's why:

First of all, notice all of those advertisments on T.V. that give so many drugs for so many diagnoses such as the stupid one: ALS (Active Leg Syndrome)

The phramisies are just greedy and think they can control our minds easily. They haven't controlled mine and they never will.

I hate the government, I hate society trying to silence me, and I hate the fact that I have always been misunderstood.

I am 15 just so you know, so I am curious, does anyone else my age feel like this?

I maybe the young age of 17 but until I divulged on my age on WP everyone thought I was in my 30s. I matured rather quickly after my LUE and 4chan period ended.

You're a hell of a lot more mature than most twenty-somethings.

I felt more mature than my age as a teen (intellectually/emotionally, anyhow--physically I've always been mistaken for younger). In retrospect I don't know that I really was.

This is very true.

Sooner or later they will try to have a pill out there for people that want to "change" their personalities or "improve" their memory and "enhance" their mental performance.

I also was thinking that when I was your age, I felt like life was too confusing for me. I hope you don't go through the same thing.

From my experience coming out of my teen years, there is a difference between even the ages of 19 and 21 - just so you know.

I do act very mature for my age and I have been said to have the mental maturity of someone of about 20 years old (I am 15).

This is obvious in the classrooms. When someone tried to be funny by being immature, even the smart one show signs of them laughing. I don't simply because I find that behaviour to be stupid and ignorant.

Also, although I am doing my GCSEs, I am already thinking about what to do for my A-levels (maybe this is common).

I also have very moral approaches to things. I often think "I don't base things on whether they are fun, like most people do. I do things depending on whether they are morally acceptable", and "I don't see why everyone needs to be lovey-dovey and why they always want a light-hearted mood. Not everything can be fun."

Does anyone else think this way?

i used to think like that when i was on the outside ....... and id love to argue with you but i dont want to disrupt the thread

i feel like im older than the trees ...... but i wouldn't describe my self as mature in some ways im more mature than my peers but in most others im about on par

I've always felt older than I am. As I look back though, I was rather immature all those times I thought of myself as mature. Today I feel the same way I always have, and a few people have told me I seem much more mature than others, but who knows how I'll look at it later? It's a weird cycle for me but I think it's come to an end.

Actually, I feel the opposite - I'm a little kid trapped in a teen's body.

I have always felt older than I really am (I am 16 now).
Sometimes people would outcast me because I acted older.

But hey, thats society for ya

I've always been way too mature for my age. I rarely made friends at school because I was too businesslike.

What exactly do you mean by 'businesslike'? Do you mean concise and organised, and conforming, unlike your peers? I am a bit like that too, and I always behave in class. I don't see the point of lowering myself to the people around me, which is why I don't want to sit next to my acquaintances who distract me.

I feel like an old man... I mean, as in "retired"-old. I'm not out of school yet, though.

I notice that I have some childlike traits that have lasted longer than most (since autistics tend to develop slower emotionally in some parts; or our brains develop differently than most), but then I have some traits that are very adult that I've had for years.

Sometimes I act as if I'm 60, sometimes I act as if I'm 6. It all really depends on the situation. Usually I act older though...
