...are there any services in the American state of NY (preferably NOT the city) for Asperger's Syndrome that will help out 16-17 year olds find a place to live (ie. assisted living, group home, etc.)?

Living in an institution with a fence around it really sucks, and I KNOW I won't make it out by my birthday. (It's the 16th of this month.)

...are there any services in the US, New York state, that will help Aspie teens (I'll be 17 in a week and a day, aka the 16th) find a place to live, whether with others or yourself? I'm getting really sick of the institution and there's not much being done for me there.

(I also prefer upstate NY, by the way, since I'm not much for the city.)

The institution where I live is not helping me.

I wish I had an answer for you. Surely you have an DDD caseworker who could look these up for you.

I would call it prison instead.

Hey. Really huge apology for the spamming earlier, because I kept getting error messages regarding the topics and I assumed that the posts never got through. Thank you to the mod or admin who deleted them for me, since I couldn't view topics at the time. x_x

Roygerdodger - It's basically kiddie jail, to be (a bit more) honest, because you're right - I call it an institution because I'm trying not to say I'm actually from 'prison.' I live in a behavioral-issues 'prison' for adolescents because I had law troubles (I had issues in school, so I was on probation, which I broke since I was so afraid of actually GOING to school because of said issues). My caseworker and I are pushing for my leave to the Office of Mental Redardation and Developmental Disabilities, but the process is so effing slow... grr. But even so, I'll probably be out by the time I'm 18 (they'd have to kick me out then anyway).

It's OK if nobody knows an answer for me. We'll keep pushing.
