I heard somewhere that Aspie's have weird sleeping habits. This is certainly the case for me. On school nights, I often have trouble getting to sleep before 11:30pm, even though I go to bed at around 10:30pm. On weekends, I'm often still on my computer at 1am and not feeling tired at all. I get up at around 6am each day for school and don't feel affected.

Anybody else like this?

I think you could just be over-stimulated, might be best to avoid over-stimulation including anything with caffeine. I would avoid, TV, anything computer related. Maybe some calming music will help your mind to unwind?

I know I need to lay off the caffeine - it's probably my main cause of sleep deprivation at the moment

I heard that too and I'm in the same boat but my schedule is a bit wackier. I do 28 hour days (19 or 20 awake then between 8 and 10 hours asleep). Strangely, I don't drink any caffeine (maybe that's my problem?).

When I have to go to sleep, though, I just listen to some music or turn a fan on for some background noise .

My sleep patterns have allways been messed up and I have allways found it difficult to get to sleep I can't stop my mind from turning.
It was at it's worst when I was a teenager but I don't think it will ever change.

May sleep schedule was odd last year but this summer when I started working again and had to get up around 6am every morning, my normal sleep schedule kicked in. I'm up at 6am even on weekends when I would prefer to sleep in (my brain take over for my alarm and wakes me anyway and the sunlight through the window keeps me awake or more often I will have a head ache or my legs will hurt preventing me from going back to sleep). I can't stay up past 9 or 10 o'clock even if I want to because my brain shuts down and starts to fall asleep sometimes as early as 8:30 (and that's when a lot of good TV comes on, thank goodness for DVR). I've noticed that since I have returned to this sleep schedule I sleep a lot better at night.

I tend to have severe problems with chronic insomnia and will sometimes stay awake for days. My best friend made me a "Falling Asleep CD" that's pretty and calming and all the same color, so it helps relax me and put me in a different headspace.

I was put on sleeping pills because of this. I've been on them for so long that I don't sleep unless I take them.

Kinda reminds me of House with his pain pills. ^^U

I'm like this too, although at the end of each week I feel smashed ( I don't drink.) I have actually literally slept only four hours this week because I saw "The Excorcist" and every time I close my eyes, Reagan pops up in front of me.

Usally i sleep from like 10;30 pm to 6;40am in week day. but in the weekends i will change to something like going to bed at 3am and getting up somewhere around 11-13. I have realised that im only fresh and ready in the morning after 10 hours of sleep.

My morning start when others have dinner :P

I totally load up on the caffiene mate! I never thought it affected my sleeping though. I'm just wierd i guess but maybe not. the kids at school cant understand how I can stay up half the night and not be tired the next day.
