Is it easier for to remember other people's faces or names?
For the life of me, I can never remember people's names. I'm new at my school, which is bad enough, but all these kids start talking to me, and I regognize them, but I have not the slightest memory of their names! 8O

Are you the same or opposite, or do you have no problem with either?

I can't remember either. I tend to use hair, jewelry, or shoes to figure out if I know someone or not, and then ask for the proper pronunciation for their name if we get into conversation (this is quite effective if their name is siobhan or needha, but not as useful if it is mary or bob, and thus my failure to remeber their name is revealed).
This is also problematic as I have a near-twin here, so people usually count on me to determine if they know me or my near-twin, so I often get into conversation only to realize I have no idea who they are, and they think I'm someone else.

I definitely use clothing and colors to determine people...if my girlfriend's wearing and orange shirt, I look for orange. However, that leads to problems (ie: once almost hugging someone random woman in an orange sweater at Old Navy!!)

I remember mostly by appearance. When thinking of a person when telling about something that happened I struggle with the name but see the person quite cleanly. I often end up assigning descriptions to people to remember who they are like, "tall and has curly hair". When I do remember someones name at that point I don't really struggle remembering who they are.

Names, but it depends on the situation. Usually neither.

I'm the opposite. I remember people's names quite easily even when I don't care who they are.

A lot of this for me is person depending, sometimes it's been with faces but with others it's been with names.

I have the habit of only being able to remember people's clothes. I am terrible with both faces and names. So I only remember a person if they wear the same clothes for several days in a row. Inconvenient huh?

I am very good at details and I'm also a good observer - so I most of the times memorize faces; because I treat them only as parts of the reality that surrrounds me... I can't remember names though! It's sometimes embarrasing.

I have problems with both.

It's terrible when someone approaches me and begins talking to me and I just nod to what they say while I try to remember who he or she is. Sometimes I manage to remember their names and where I met them, and then it's all good. But when I don't, sometimes they realize it and they feel offended. Other times they don't notice and they leave, and then I remember who they were and often I also remember that I had something important to tell them.

Aghh, it's frustrating.

I have trouble remembering names. I NEVER call people by first name in fear of getting their name wrong, even if I'm familiar with it. Also, once I start calling someone a name-- I can't change no matter how much they insist. My parents are still "mommy and daddy" to me.

I don't have as much trouble with faces. I might not be completely sure of who they are, but I figure it out quickly. Still don't remember their name, however. =p
