I don't suffer from any social dysfunction (anymore) or the problems that got me taken to the psychiatrist in the first place. I seem to be outgrowing my narrow/weird interests and taking an interest in normal popular teen things like guitar hero 4 (on our new wii), pop culture and I even really enjoy socializing nowadays (which is no problem for me anymore).
I still flap my hands, line things up and have various other autistic traits though nobody ever notices and I can fit in just fine. I'm still proud of my individualiy (what sets me apart from other aspies and/or NTs) and I don't want to affiliate myself with my diagnosis anymore. I'm not even interested in this website very much anymore.
People with ASDs are so diverse anyway that I have more in common with some of my NT friends than most of you anyway.
I've taken (*)aspies rock(*) out of my msn name (not because we don't). I'm just past caring about a little diagnosis.

Welcome to the teenage years of raging hormones and peer pressure. Be careful what bridges you burn in the process you may not be able to cross back.

By this I mean be careful who you blow off you might later look back and realize that some people meant more to you than you thought they did and you might later regret saying something that you can't take back.

Oh, and switch to Rockband now the horrid sound guitar hero makes when you make a mistake is awful.

i "wear the title" of aspie because i am one, i function pretty good socially and i am always busy spreading awareness simly because lots of people know that i am an aspie but like me for who i am, plus i do lot's a typical aspie things and i can laugh about it, more and more i am becoming the loveable weird aspie instead of the nerdy fragile aspie i was before.

Eh...I dont really like to advertise myself; people will know something wrong with me soon enough, and they dont have to know the specifics

I don't wear it like a banner. A few of my friends know, but that's enough.

I do try to encourage awareness, however. For example, in my psychology class, we had to infer why a "student" acted like they did in certain situations. I said that "Mark" shied away from conversation in class because he had AS and didn't know a lot of social cues. My teacher explained to the class what Aspergers is.

(However, she did kind of make it seem like it was a "poor Mark" story... like Aspergers was a disease or something. Not a differential neurological wiring. It made me kind of peeved. Oh well, pick and choose...)

I proudly wear the title of Aspie. Most people figure I'm different, and I am. I'm not as bad as I was before, and I am pretty decent socially, but I still numerous Aspie traits. I proudly wear the title of Aspie and don't care who knows. In fact, mostly my entire group of friends know.

I AM AN ASPIE!! !! ! and i'm proud of that fact. all of my friends know and from the way i act, almost everyone in my school knows. i was teased and judged soo many times because of who i was and now i know why. i love that. if people don't like me for who i am, they don't have to stick around.

No, I dont tell people because of obvious general ignorance on the subject. My parents and family know. My friends assume I'm weird and have something but accept it so I dont have to explain it. I wouldnt really feel comfortable explaing to a woman I desire that I am on the autism spectrum.

No not really. I am glad I know the pros/cons but it is not something I wear on my sleeve. If someone asks, I will tell, and do my best to present myself in the best way possible to sway any negative assumptions away from me and others with this syndrome.

I don't exactly jump around on a big float and shout "aasssppiiie" with aload of balloons and carnival music playing and people waving banners. But I'm not completely ashamed either, only some of my family and friends know. Mostly because they haven't noticed it that much but they do comment on my "shyness" and how unorganised and awkward I am but I don't want them to think I'm making excuses for myself so I say nothing
