Does anyone know what age a teenager can legally live on his or her own? I know you can quit school at 16, although i have no interest in this. But I think that although i love my famliy and they love me, we might be happier if i moved out temporarily. PLEASE- advice on reconciliation is good, but what i REALLY need is just legal advice on this. Please send replies in a personal message to me if you can. Thanks.

Without being emancipated, you will still be dependent on your parents for authorization and signatures for almost everything you would face. The proceeding for emancipation vary from state to state, generally at the age of 16 or 17 and generally require some evidence of cause and ability for self sufficiency.

Personally, I would say that you need some form of income to pay for a place of your own and food and assorted other bills.

The legal emancipation stuff is another thing entirely (I know nothing about it so can't give any advice on it).
