I hearya...I've been hearing it forever. People who know me KNOW that I am ALWAYS going to wear jeans, tennis shoes and a t-shirt, UNLESS they make a request ahead of time for a special occasion. It is what it is - it's part of the package - like it or lump it, just like me.

Well most people label me "gothic" but half of them call me a poser because i sometimes wear all black and thats what a poser would wear not a real one, so the next day i wear blue jeans and a tie-die shirt and then i get called a poser because I'm not wearing "gothic" cloths and your not supposed to mix your subcultural clothing (whoever thought up that should be shot) I mean is this all NTs have to worry about all day?

oh i understand that completely. i am REALLY bad at matching. I just don't understand how colors should or should not go together. I'm partially colorblind in the first place so that plays a part in it, but I understand completely. I get bitched at all the time

I've been bad with that in the past. Recently I've changed my habbits slightly. If I pick out a blue pair of jeans, I'll try to get a blue shirt as well. Same with any given color. If there are no clean blue shirts, oh well.
People in my school aren't as bad about things like that as they could be.

I'm on the other hand aware of colors, and clothes matching is important to me. I like seeing well dressed people, shorts and sneakers look so bad and speak poorly about who's wearing them, unless they're doing excersize/sports.
I was raised in a culture where formal is the rule. I used to wear a jacket with my school uniform everyday, guys would wear ties.
I think people should really care about their appearance. I guess this is an aspie trait of mine.
Besides, people do treat you better when you're well dressed. for example, kids see you as an authority figure.

I totally empathize with your frustration.

I get a lot of comments, all stupid comments. "Why are you so 'gussied' up?" is something I get a lot. Oh excuse me for not being a bum.

People are morons to nitpick about clothes.

Do what you want. :D

I usually wear whatever is on the top of my suitcase (I do live out of a suitcase, even though I am quite stationary), and this often results in me wearing something like: a plaid shirt and plaid pants.

I frequently don't notice what I'm wearing, and I certainly don't notice what others are wearing, but it really gives me insight into the minds of NTs when they cringe at my accidental choice of clothes, or say I look "visually dissonant".

Granted, it may look less than ordinary, but if someone's inside-world is so empty that they have to constantly cringe at my happenstance choice of clothes, then I have no interest in granting them the attention of a response.

Hooray for the catharsis I get from this website.

It's T-shirts and cargos for me, with very few exceptions. My mom bugs me all the time about dressing up for things. Then we go, and she's the only one dressed up. XD
I'll just wear what's comfy, thanks.

Haha, people think I'm weird because I'm always wearing a knee-length black coat and a black cabbie hat.
And you should just say to them what you think: "That's not your business." "What's it to you?" etc. etc.
