For me, I usually have to do something positive, whether I do it on my own, or I'm forced to do it. A job interview or a family gathering are both good examples. These are things that I don't really want to do, but I feel so much better when they're over. They make me feel like I'm part of the human population again. Sometimes it lasts a couple hours, and sometimes it lasts a couple days. This may not work for everyone, but it usually works for me. Exercise is a good self-esteem booster as well. Everyone is different though, find what works for you and use it to your advantage. :)

Both of my suggestions involve TV.

When I'm just kind of down on myself, I watch "COPS". No matter how badly I'm doing, at least I'm not a drunken, toothless redneck, standing outside my doublewide with my shirt off and shouting at the police! :)

When I'm actually depressed, believe it or not, I watch "Teletubbies". It's hard to stay depressed while you're watching four bright colors dance around and babble - and it's cheaper than LSD, and legal!

The last time I was feeling really low, I took the day off from work, and went out and did completely useless things that I wouldn't normally do. I went to to a pond (too dang cold to stay and feed the ducks), browsed through an "adult" toy store, and went to a (normal) book store. I even checked out a woman's butt, looked her in the eyes, and said hello ;). When you get down, check your AS at the door, and get out and do things :) The trick is knowing that when you're depressed, you're not supposed to give a crap, so push yourself just past your normal limits and... well, don't give a crap. It helped me a lot.

Achieving a goal that I set for myself always increases my self-esteem.

^ concur with Brittany. Thats the best morale booster there is.

Aside from that.. I help people. Since my OCD is to fix problems and I like to help people.. 2 in one & it helps me in socializing somewhat.

Post on WP.

Low self esteem has always been a serious problem for me. I am convinced that at least half of it is justified.

do something you're good at, like writing for instance (i kind of see myself as a writer)
then pretend like whatever you wrote got published and that you're awesome and world-famous. it's quite boost and it also helps you actually doing something, like writing

Generally NOT achieving a goal I set for myself is what causes my low self-esteem.

Dance around to country music and have my guineas giving me questioning, grumpy looks (they hate being woken up from their naps).

Eat chocolate.

Drink coffee.

Think about all those people who teased me in school and who probably now work for McD's and/or in prison (joke).

Ace a test/paper/interview

Go to the bookstore

Do something outside of my routine.

Clean my apartment and take out the trash

Help someone out

Give my guinea pigs attention

Play Sims
