so, i just wanted to throw out a few things that help me when im super depressed, to spread the <3 if you know what i mean. any other suggestions??

i've posted some of these before, and most are pretty juvenile, but hey, whatever works.

1. writing bad words on toaster stroodles

2. get a white gummy bear from jamba juice (you have to ask for it, but its aweeesome!)

3. smashing dishes (i think this one was in a movie?)

4. super gluing a quarter to the sidewalk and watching people pass by >:)

5. leaving notes in library books

6. making time capsules in your backyard!! !!

7. apparently, theres a berry that reverses your taste buds, haven't tried it, but im sure it would prove hours of un-quenchable joy (like, it makes Tabasco sauce taste like donuts?! !!?!?!)

8. play dough

9. banana laughy taffy wrapped around a chocolate dumdum (this recipe is GOLD)

10. wearing a tinfoil hat while belting "wish i had heart" (when no ones there of course)

11. having by-my-self party's (ben and jerry's and monster is a must, also chips and dip and really cheesy movies.)

How about treating yourself to a nice dinner out?

The movie idea sounds good as well, but there hasn't been anything playing that strikes my fancy in a while.

Sometimes if I'm really depressed or angry, I'll write a rant about it. There's something in the process of getting it all down into my computer that seems to straighten my mind out, and the repetitive act of typing is soothing too. Usually I won't even read through what I've written, for fear of working myself up again; once it's all typed out and I've started to feel better, I'll just delete my rant and go do something else.

Such as...

A long walk in our local cemetery, which is very overgrown and beautiful.

A trip to the public gardens, so I can photograph whatever is in bloom.

Knitting with soothing music on. I find the repetitive action calms the mind.

Writing a blog entry about the latest interesting thing I've done.

Getting my budgie to sit on my hand. It's always nice to interact with animals.

Reading WP. There are some great people here.

Drinking tea. Especially if it's got Kava in it!

in Alcoholics Anyonomous we were told to write down everything, Symphonies were written, blueprints for towering skyscrapers were put down on paper, formulae for polio vaccine. . . on and on and on.

It is something about getting it all down, expressing it that heals, Veruniel.

by the way, I LOVE cemeteries and not for ghoulish reasons. Walking among the stones reading the markers, knowing that life is fleeting and someday it will be over for me as well comforts me.( And they aren't loud or rude and I don't have to make conversation with them, that too!)

Same as veruniel here. I feel better after writing things down and then walking away.

I also feel better if I play my guitar or sing, VERY LOUD. If I turn my guitar amp up to 2 my wife knows I'm to be left alone for a while.

Driving helps me too; could be the solitude and the loud stereo...

I thought of doing some of those things, and I've done the by-myself parties. :)

some times I sing!

Born To Be Mild
by Al Yankovic

Get your program running
Head out to the center
Terminals are waiting
For the data that you'll enter

Everybody says that you're a nerd, but
They should know that you just don't care
Got your Hewlett-Packard on your belt and
Vaseline in your hair

Like a true mommy's child
You were born, born to be mild
When your batteries die
You're always gonna cry
Born to be mild

Pencils in your pocket
Patent leather briefcase
Studying your Fortran
You got pimples on your face

Gotta do your homework
Forget about the prom dance
They think that you're a big jerk
'Cause you wear a pair of flood pants

Every day you wake up
Your oscilloscope is humming
Parties tend to break up
When they find out that you're coming

Born To Be Mild is, as of yet, officially unreleased. It is a parody of "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf with original lyrics by "Weird Al" Yankovic.
