When I come to this site, the only thing I ever look at is The Haven, I'm so pathetic.

Are you here just to whine and complain? Then the Haven is for you.

If you're here to socialise, then try the other threads.

It couldn't be simpler. If your goal for being a member of Wrong Planet is to whine, complain, and put yourself down without being criticised in response, then posting in the Haven is for you.

If you want to socialise in a more give-and-take environment, then post in other threads.

There's nothing wrong with that. Even if you spend forever at The Haven, that's what it's for. You don't have to pretend, not here.

Anxiety attacks are not something that I'm familiar with ... not the chest-crushing kind, anyway.

The closest I can relate to is a certain phobia of mine, that when I experience it my mind continues to function as if nothing is wrong, but my body refuses to respond to my conscious control; or if it does, then it responds very slowly and deliberately. The only thing I can do about it is to acknowledge that it is happening, try to relax enough to regain basic control, and simply endure the situation until it is over.

Sorry ... not much help. :(

If it brings you too far into overload then try to escape in some way, and find a way to comfort yourself or take your mind off of what made you upset in the first place, it just about always works in the short term anyway..

cnonamei, try the Random board. It's more often than rather amusing.

As for anxiety, I get worried and depressed, and lose the ability to focus. Unfortunately, I usually start drinking to alleviate it.

I actually find the "Off the Wall" board to be a welcome and playful way to distract me from stress.

I've also started rollerblading lately, which is an incredible stress release. Brain/endorphins/feeling like I've accomplished something.

I have anxiety attacks often. They happen at night usually. The room spins and I can't get thoughts/phrases out of my head. I refuse to go (back) on SSRIs.

I know it sounds bland, or whatever, but exercise, a healthy meal, a glass of wine (not sure how old you are) before bed and then maybe an hour of reading. Reading = escapism = relaxation. Doesn't always do the trick, but it's the best thing I've found.

I've never found the cure for social anxiety. Try to practice your comic timing, get good at looking distracted or focused on something else, try to avoid parties where there's no beer. It's what I do.
