I am having a major anxiety and freaking out, my Dad is pressuring me to go get a job and I actually went out and applied, but now I am having this crushing anxiety like it's physically crushing me, and I am freaking out! I've had this other kind of anxiety which I'm used to which is like going to the grocery store and I get feeling anxious like every body is staring at me or I'm going to say or do something stupid,I'm used to that one but this is new and it's making me feel like I'm gonna go insane or I want to die!! ! Has anyone ever experienced this and did your doctor prescribe something for you? I can't stand it! Help please!!

Calm down. Make a glass of tea, or take a bath. try to relax. It's very very hard, but i think you can do it.

Don't forget to throw a lot of magnesium salts in the hot bath water.

The only way I know to deal with a panic attack is to recognize that's what it is and to wait it out. When I had them (in the middle of the night in bed) I would read a book until the adrenaline had worn itself out and I could go back to sleep. It usually took an hour or two.

This is a different kind than my usual one, though, which I could deal with...I'll be going back to my doctor in a few weeks, but she is so busy...my Dad is a doctor, too and he called it generalized anxiety I think...ugh, now I can't remember.

First of all, whenerever you start to feel anxiety...take some deep breaths and blow out all that anxiety. Any time you feel anxious, do some breathing exercises...breathe in, then breathe out and you will be amazed at how such simple exercises will
help you keep your anxiety feeling under some control. What will "freaking out" solve anyways?

As for your problems with your Dad, he is just like any other father and wants you to become more independent and self-reliant.
If you cannot find paid employment, do some VOLUNTEER work in your community, in an area that interests you. Volunteer at a
day care center, a nursing home or hospital, a soup kitchen for the homeless, the list is endless. Many times volunteer work will
lead to paid employment and you can use the volunteer experience on a job application. Employers love to see volunteer work
on a person's job applcation as it shows ambition, dependability and your ability to do a job well.

Best of luck to you!

There's some fantastic relaxation videos on youtube! I'm bad with anxiety too, and they helped me. Just lie down in bed and listen to it with your eyes closed and try to follow the instructions of what they say.

Try this one, I found it good. There's others there too if you search under "relaxation".

Sounds like a panic attack. What everybody else said is cool, especially the breathing. But here's one thing that I found helps me a lot (a nurse taught me) - *notice* that it's a panic attack. In that split instant, you can grab it and become the observer. That's the beginning of being able to manage it.

I used to smoke before I went shopping and I could feel more relaxed/etc, but thats horrible advice so don't take it.. Also, when you shop in a new area and where theres no way for people to know who you are, then it makes it easier to just be yourself and not care, and do what you need to do. Maybe that would work for you as well?

In the past I would go grocery shopping after drinking at the pub. Without alchohol I just couldn't do it. Now I'm on Saint john's worth and it's working. I still feel anxious at times, but it doesn't disable me like it used to.

I decided that drinking was not for me. Now I rarely drink.

I haven't really found anything yet at college. When I was at home, my parents used to massage me which would calm me down. But I have noone to massage me here, being single and all  .

It's taken all of my willpower not to fully revert to anything potentially destructive like chocolate or alcohol (chocolate in large doses can be quite destructive to my waistline  ) but I've always been skimming the surface, jumping between them, and I can't hold out much longer.

This is why I've been trying relaxation videos, and although it's a little early to tell how effective they might be, I've managed to in part ward off two extreme panic attacks so far, and get back to work with panic levels at least reduced (if not properly eliminated).
