What gets on my goat is bullies that not only GET AWAY WITH IT, but the person that gets bullied gets punished! That's enough to make me want to ram a screwdriver through the punisher.

Yeh, this happens to me and has done in pretty much every class - every day since I can remember.
After years of trying all the common suggestions which are hopeless they shouldn't really be suprised if I lash out. I've broken skin but have never actually drawn blood. They stracthed the broken skin 'till it bled. Their conclusion: It was me who drew the blood?
I can't break skin but it's ok for them to steal, call me names, attempt to steal, commit assualt and battery? ....................riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
I've kinda of said some things I shouldn't have said but hey, who wouldn't?

When I was young, I went through this too. I'm sad to hear that the schools are still locked into the "blame the victim" mentality.

^Proctor: "Okay, (insert victim name here), did you have any witnesses to prove your side of the story?"

Victim: "No... I really don't have many friends, and in this class, I have none."

Proctor: "Okay then, we'll send this up for review and have the person you accused right a report as well."

Victim: "There were 10 bullies, actually."

Proctor: "Yeaaaaah, we just need one of their reports, the other 9 and whoever they come up with will be used as witnesses."

*victim sighs*

________________________________________________________________________________

Proctor: "Okay, *insert bully name here*, do you have any witnesses to back up your report."

Bully: "Uuhhh, yeah, the people that sit around me and stuff. They'll all back me up."

Proctor: "You have their names?"

Bully: "Uhh... Nick Generic, Bob Smith, John Q. Public, Tom Everyman, Marsha Lastname, Tim Random, Mike Normal, George Georgeson, Tom Thompson, Jen Jennison, Greg McGregor, Lani Somethingorother, and that one chick with the mole."

Proctor: "Alright, then... hmm, your report says not only did you not bully *victim name*, but that he bullied you and then hit you, Nick Generic, and Tom Everyman several times. Do you have any proof?"

Bully: *pulls up shirt* "Uh yeah, I've got a brooze right here and, like, on my chest and stuff."

*broozes really just well-patterned smudges of ink*

Proctor: "Ooh, that must really hurt. He draw any blood?"

Bully: "Yeah, on my face. See?" *turns head, revealing an obviously false scratch with red ink surrounding it*

Proctor: "Oh, I feel so sorry for you! Don't worry, as long as your story checks out, we're going to make sure that not only does *victim name* get punished for violence, but that he gets in trouble for perjury."

Bully: "Huh, okay, whatever that is."

______________________1 week later_______________________________________________

Victim: "What do you mean 3 day suspension? I didn't do anything!"

Proctor 2: "Not according to the 11 different reports we got that say you did. Also, you've got another week's suspension along with that."

Victim: "WHAT? WHY?!"

Proctor 2: "Because you lied. Perjury."

Victim: "THIS SUCKS! Did they at least get in trouble a little bit?"

Proctor 2: "Why should they get in trouble? They're perfectly good kids, they did nothing wrong. YOU'RE the bully, you deserve all the punishment."

Victim: "BUT THEY RIPPED MY SHIRT, SPIT ALL OVER ME, PUT ROTTEN MEAT AND EGGS IN MY BACKPACK, BEAT ME UP, FARTED IN MY FACE, AND SCRATCHED ME OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH SCISSORS UNTIL I BLED!"

Proctor 2: "More lying? Man, you're pretty dumb - I suggest being quiet before you get even more suspension, maybe even expulsion."

Victim: "EEERRRGGGHHH! Can I at least appeal this to my VP?"

Proctor 2: "Nope."

Victim: "BUT I HAVE SCARS!"

Proctor 2: "Yeah, so did they. Difference is, they didn't have fake scars."

Incident reports suck.

Am I the only one that read this? A lot of people seem to be asking hat's wrong with P.E.
That kinda answers it for me.

Roybertito, I have two words for you: document everything. If you or anyone else still have marks or scars on your bodies get a camera and take pictures of them. Get copies of all incident reports. Document the fact the teachers are not helping to stop bullying and your school is a dangerous environment. Whatever country that you live in you need to start legal proceedings because your school is going to get someone killed. If there is anyone on this website in your area that knows anything about law, ask them for help.

PE is not the problem Iammeandnooneelse. Irresponsible adults in charge of the well being and education of children are at fault.

It highlights differences that are already evident enough and subject me to more of the s**t that I get on a daily basis but anyway..........I guess highlighting the differences is due to the irresponsible adults being in charge of the ?well-being? and education of children.......huh?

my high school had cameras everywhere. other kids hated it because it was 'privacy' thing. i loved it. when someone started a fight there was no lying about it.. i think all schools should have this type of system.

i did get bullied from preschool(involves licking a shoe) through my early years of junior high. once my big brother became a black belt and started instructing, thatslowed down... but my brother and his friends got in trouble for protecting me that wasn't fair. we were already 'trouble makers' and it was our word against theirs.

i was very surprised(in a good way) in high school when the person who hit me was the one who got in trouble. my last year i did not have to take PE because i took two science courses. PE is a joke, it is the one class i cannot see myself using. The only one i actually liked taking was my self-defense class.

but the camera thing, i think that should be every school. i don't care about how much it will cost, they find enough money for metal detectors they should be able to find enough for cameras.. besides i know a couple of cameras are cheaper then taking you kid to the hospital.

Some mp3 players can record sound. If that is good enough to get a good record of conversation while the thing is in your pocket, you could press the button once you realise you are about to be bullied. Check the legal side, because in at least some countries it is illegal to record conversations without the consent of those being recorded.

If you try this, you will get away with it only once, because any bully will search you after the first time you use such a recording. If you can stand it, collect several episodes so you can establish a pattern which is rather harder to explain away than a single incident. Also, if you can show that there is a pattern, then if the bullying carries on afterwards, even several matching stories from people who have been shown to be bullies will be rather less credible than before.

Please note that I do not speak from experience. My school did not have a bullying culture and I managed just to fade into the backgorund, so I never had to solve this problem. My suggestion may therefore not be useful.

That particular incident was something that happened to a friend in 7th grade. My middle school was probably the largest bully breeding ground in the country, if not the worst middle school of all time.

Here's some of the other things beside bullying that happen at that school:

-Drugs (Drug bust, they found 22 kids SELLING DRUGS ON CAMPUS! AND NOT JUST WEED, EITHER!)
-Sex (Bathrooms, locker rooms... at one point, the students around the school were handing around condoms... I was offered one!)
-Corruption (Teacher got tenure after teaching for only 7 years... 1. Tenure is supposed to be 10 years... 2. The teacher was the vice principal's wife.)
-Bad test scores (I'm not sure what the were exactly, I just know we were pretty low in the ranks
-Etcetra.

On the document everything issue: that can be very hard, because 1) the bullying is usually unexpected and 2) Usually I don't have the means. I usually only have three things with me: my backpack filled with schoolpapers, my iPod, and my Nintendo DS. My cellphone is out of comission right now due to battery issues and no service.

There's no chance of switching schools, however, this is the first and only incident I've had at this school, so hopefully, another won't happen, however, what troubles me is I don't know if the kid is getting in trouble or not. I hope so. I'm tired of them getting off scott-free.

And on the PE issue, I started a new thread in The Haven discussing the issue of banning the class entirely.

If your story is true I wish you all the luck in the world.

I was experiencing Self-Esteem problems as my Grade 6 Year, in Elementary School was comming to a close. I was telling a girl in my class that I want to kill myself. Some boy that I've had to deal with, for four years, prior to my statement told me to just grab a Kitchen Knife and stab myself in the Stomach. He hated me with a passion, because he was an Anglophobe and I have an English Accent, and he also thought that I was "ret*d" and that I didn't have control over my Bowels, the first terrible year that we were forced to deal with eachother, in Grade 2. If I was ever to run into him today, I'd tell him off, and do some Self-Defence moves on him. Than I'd tell him that was the way that he was making me feel all those years, and run off, before he's able to stand back up.

Here may be a good sudgestion, because I know they will not get rid of such a 'great class'. I dont know if its just my school but we mix Freshman with Seniors. I get called things all the time like "fag, queer, nerd, loser" etc. And I would say a good 80% of those comments are coming from upper-classman. I eventually got moved to a semi-freshman only class. But the point of mixing the classes I assume is to protect against this but the school is clueless to this type of thing. Their too busy giving me detentions for tardies to listen to anything.
