Also, for the record, i didn't say the immaturity factor was a definite thing. Look back at the wording i used

Seanmw, It is much better to fail basic than to fail your buddies in the field.

I am sorry you were unable to finish basic, but i am glad you will get to be an armorer. As I said before, basic training is designed to eliminate the people who will break before they end up in combat. There are a lot of people who do not finish and i am sure most are NT.

I am retired military and autistic, and there are others on Wrong Planet who have served, or are currently serving. Aspergers and autism are not things that are asked about in the recruiting process.

Unless you can get a handle on your chronic overreactions, you won't last.

I have no military experience, but I know that the instructors will see how far they can bend you. They will find and probe your weaknesses. From what I've seen of your posts, you have a thing or two to learn about letting words roll off your back.

They'll ask if you have a mental disorder.

I went through it here in Oz. I've seen people in the UK and US turned away due to having a diagnosis of an ASD.

Most with an ASD couldn't handle the social blah of military life; whilst it's structured, there's still social stuff going on, and it'll overwhelm all but the highest of functioning individuals (who probably don't have a diagnosis).
